JFC, how far has that dude come?  probably more improvement than anyone seff has coached.

Yeah but think how awesome he'd be if he could actually make a dunk.  Or a layup.  Or anything.

Nice that we can let FR come along slowly and play up and down.  We can count on the older guys and let them figure it out.  I'd say McGruds and Judge have hit a little bit of the "freshman wall", hopefully they snap out of it in the next few weeks.  JHR and Irving seem to have earned the trust of Frank to get a few more minutes.  Interesting how he has handled these guys, but I'm glad we've reached the point as a program to do it.

Wish he'd quit doing stupid stuff so Martin would play him those additional 6-7 minutes per game.

Like thinking he's a guard and trying to breakdown a defender from the FT line.

yeah. seems 3 out of 5 times this results in a turnover.

And has some defensive lapses.

Frank has the luxury of playing several bigs.  Kelly is by far the best scorer, but Frank can pull him when he messes up.  I'm betting Kelly will play closer to 30 MPG next year.

um, aren't we comparing him to jhr?

not sure if he'll get more minutes next year with an older jhr and asprilla.  it prolly won't be as annoying if he doesn't then though.

I'm not comparing him to anyone, just looking at why he plays 23 or so minutes compared to 30.  He splits minutes with Lou and JHR really, so its not just a Kelly/JHR comparison.

Lou did some really dumb things as well tonight.

yeah.

I suppose it annoys me greatly when bigs try to take people off the dribble and get ripped.  We seemed to do that quite a bit tonight, usually leading to some OU break/basket.  Much more annoying than any Denis forced attempt from 3.  IMHO.

Definitely. A missed Denis 3 is usually a 50/50 proposition for an O-reb. A Colon or Kelly TO is a 97% proposition for an opponent run-out layup.

i think it was colon that refused to kick out to a completely wide open sutton (begging for the ball) and instead went across the lane and got stripped.  that was annoying.

kind of two games in a row where apparently Lou thought he was michael fracking beasley every time he got the ball in the post.

and speaking of the post, is there anything sweeter than when we get the ball to samuels or kelly on or near the block and just clear out for them?

Lou is fine when he doesn't think he's an offensive weapon.

Speaking of post play, I loved Jam-Sam backing down/owning OU defenders repeatedly in the 2nd half.

He seems to do this more frequently when we need a basket to stop a run and he feels like he should "step up." Pretty frustrating, but still love the eff out of him.

His offense is only overrated by himself. Which is his problem.

His defense isn't very good, he's just big and doesn't usually let people shoot over him, he does get beat every time they try to go around him.

JHR can do those things, and also rebound. Is anyone going to see the post position next year besides JHR and Sammy?

Whether on the road in the 12, or at the Y, posts should know their place.

Super excited about JHR, btw. Love the dude. Don't expect him to be a 20/10 dude or anything ridiculous like that. Just think he's gonna be a great 3/4 year part of the program.

Cautiously optimistic on JHR, hoping for Cato/Friend type upside as his ceiling.

he's not that type of athlete.  he's somewhat smooth, but not at all explosive.

I could see JHR developing into a Brendan Haywood type of player.  He looks like he's added some good weight since the beginning of the season as well.

At the Wichita Pak I made the argument that JHR should have his minutes cut next year, I would love for him to even be redshirted.  Not that I think he sucks, I don't, but he should be the fifth option at the 4/5.  Kelly, Judge, and Samuels should all progress faster than JHR, and if Asprilla lives up to even half the hype, I just don't see available minutes for Jordan.  If he gets many minutes it will be at the expense of a better player.  He's taking Lou's minutes this year.
