Did he actually play at Cloud? He is not on the current roster... Would be interesting to know how he did there.

it’s still early but 2011 looks like
SR: 1 (samuels)
JR: 5 (macgruder,russell,jhr,myles,irving)
SO: 3 (southwell,spradling,lawrence)
FR: 4 (nino,angel,diaz,gipson)
i’ll be surprised if someone is not run to bring in depth in the post.

We are pretty light in the front court unless we want to count on Vic and Potz.
I understand it isn't needed, but we will be forced to play small often given our propensity for fouling.

So, like, Devon still has to be a walkon but Omari can tweet about cats and he gets a scholarship?

On Lawrence: A gritty competitor and charismatic leader ... a swingman that has been rated a top 25 prospect at the small forward position by recruiting services ... incredible versatility allows him to play at the shooting guard, small forward or power forward positions ... owns incredible strength and is an outstanding rebounder and finisher, particularly for his size ... a "true New York City basketball player" ... averaged 9.8 ppg on 58.3 percent field goal shooting during St. John's 4-0 trip to Canada over Labor Day Weekend, 2009.
Norm Roberts On Lawrence: "Omari is a tremendous slasher. He is understanding the speed of the game. Omari is a terrific passer in the lane so I think he is going to give us more creativity, with the ability of getting in lanes and creating shots for others as well as himself."
At South Kent: Led the Cardinals to a 26-7 record and an appearance in the NEPSAC title game in 2008-09 ... South Kent squad fell to St. John's teammate Malik Stith's Bridgton Wolverines in the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) championship game, whom the Cardinals had defeated twice during the regular season ... spurred his South Kent team to a 16-game regular-season winning streak, during which South Kent played for approximately two months without a loss ... averaged 14.1 points per game, 6.6 assists and 5.4 rebounds with a 79.0 percent mark from the free throw line during his senior year ... South Kent is the same prep school attended by St. John's teammates Rob Thomas and Dele Coker ... coach at South Kent was Kelvin Jefferson ... was selected to play on the New York City Team in the Jordan Classic Regional game at Madison Square Garden on April 18, 2009 ... scored 25 points on 12-of-21 shooting to go along with five boards in that game ... saw a game-high 35 minutes of action, the most among any player on either squad ... led the City Team to victory over the Suburban team, 129-120, at the "World's Most Famous Arena."
At St. Raymond's: Starred at St. Ray's in the Bronx before enrolling at South Kent for his senior year ... averaged 18.0 points per game as a junior in 2007-08 ... earned first team All-City distinction from the NY Daily News and first team all-league honors from the New York Catholic High School Athletic Association (CHSAA) following his junior season.
Personal: Omari R. Lawrence ... born in Bronx, N.Y. ... son of Alma Lawrence and Norman Lawrence ... has one brother, Abebe (31) ... chose St. John's because he wanted to play in the BIG EAST and because it is close to his home ... majoring in liberal studies.
Lawrence Up Close...
Favorite TV show: "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air."
What's on my iPod: Lil' Wayne, Jay-Z and Ray Charles.
Since coming to St. John's, I've learned: Leadership and time management.
If I was President for the day, I would: Give every hard-working parent a day off.
My favorite all-time athlete at St. John's is: Malik Sealy.

Fill some of Pullens shoes in this regard? :ck: Obviously not all of it but some leadership, which is what this team will need next year.

talk it over to yourself and decide if it makes sense.

i've scouted this kid on youtube and let me tell you that i am really impressed. solid rebounder. think darryl cunmingham. nice footwork inside. think david hoskins. long wingspan. think jason bennett. good outside shot. think a combination of cartier martin and lance harris. great finisher. think michael beasley. overall, he's got a lot of work to do to play at the big 12 level, but give greenwalt some time in the gym and frank can get him on the court from day one.

All I know is that Frank said he would take him back, and have not heard that he has transferred anywhere as of yet. Just sayin its possible...

This crap's already been posted but it's time to review Omari's bestest
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQL3d2SMsC0&feature=related
Was reportedly a "surefire Rivals Top 150 prospect" in Spring 08, but that didn't finish there in final rankings, cac happens. Keeps calling himself a combo guard, but kinda hard to believe that after all I've seen and read about him, definitely sounds like more of a 2/3 wing.
From June 08:
"A game later, Lawrence turned up the heat in the most anticipated pool game of the day against the L.A. Dream Team. The Rivals150 prospect scored 25 points by our count and was on constant attack to the rim. He stepped up to the challenge of the game's biggest day and led the charge for the majority of the game. Lawrence was also great on the glass."

What Scout dudes said:
"High energy player with a big wing span. Will likely be a high-major signee. Biggest area to address is perimeter game. Love him as a defensive wing at two positions."
"Attacking guard who creates in both the half-court and in transition. Can spot up and shoot, but is at his best when going to the hoop. Also one of the more polished defenders on the high school level. Doesn't take plays off; competes with great intensity."

-
Hopefully he is similar to 95, only under control and can dribble better, pass better, rebound better, and shoot better.
-
frank should quit giving scholarships to players who haven't played in a year and focus all his energy on how to get Denmon from MU but sitting out only one year.
-
Great...another guard that can't shoot.

Is this good or bad?
-
Don't worry boys....Greenawalt will whip his fat ass into shape.
-
Is this good or bad?
I think it's good, but his ugliness will make it very hard to stick with him if things start to go south.
