Title: Total implosion at the end
Post by: chum1 on March 19, 2011, 10:30:14 PM
We should have been able to maintain the lead when we were up 5 with like 4 min to go or whatever it was.  JFC.

Disagree, whiteysconsin is pretty good.  Doesn't seem right, but they are.

The no call on Sprads and CK getting shoved out of bounds didn't help. Wisky went on their run right after that to tie. Refs really f*cked us.

I have never hated Nick more than when he threw it away up 5 and missed that 5 footer. Those 2 plays were right before Wiscy's run.

Could have broke either way. Went theirs. Couple of mistakes.

Chum is on it. We needed to maintain the lead - but we also needed ONE OTHER MOTHERFUCKING PLAYER ASIDE FROM JAKE AND CK TO SHOW UP!!!

Nick threw it away to the top of the arc, we fought the ball back and passed back to nick.  Nick turned to the baseline and passed it right past Curt and out of bounds.

I mean, JFC, almost every rough ridin' possesion of theirs lasts 30 seconds.  If you're up by ten with 3 minutes left, it is actually not possible for them to beat you in any way.

Nick was awful.  Would have been nice for Frank to have played him in the 30 previous games before this one to get him some game experience.

This is pretty much how Nick has played every game he was in save UNLV.

Nick has been practicing with JYCs for two years.  This "nick is not good, but it is frank's fault" talking point is just simply Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!).  The kid is lost on D.  Two years.  The kid loses his guy ever time down the floor.  Two years.  The kid causes help D to shift and creates holes in our d because he never recovers.  Two rough ridin' Years.

If you are on the Nick side of this issue, you are a basketball Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!), just a contrarian, or you are Nick.

FYI we were down one with 4 to play.  Nick hurt us badly with 2 empty possessions but everyone rough ridin' loves Nick.  Curtis lays on the ground and they go 4 on 5 and curly red buries a huge Trey to go up 3....anything but a Trey there.  I feel so bad for Jake right now.

then frank's a goddamn moron and should be fired for playing him.  please choose.

Don't care if he can create his own shot, id rather lose every rough ridin' game next year than watch nick play another game for us.  I thought Frank out coached Bo most of the second half but allowing Nick to play in the last minutes of the game I will never understand.

Russel on the court costing 2 turnovers on 3 possessions were the game.

Be honest with yourself.   Frank's handling of personnel has been an enigma during large patches of the entire season.

I admit, I thought Nick Russell had enough game to make up for a defensive lapse here and there, but he was simply horrible tonight in every facet.

don't know what to be upset about.  Nick.  Frank.  Jamar.  The Refs.  Mostly I just want to die.

go with the refs.  it's shallow but it's more fun.  why jamar?  thought he had a decent night.

meh.  the ball was going to go to pullen regardless of whether frank called a timeout or not.  jake going to the bucket with two guys backpedalling is prolly just as good as whatever stupid play we drew up that was going to be against 5 guys in good position.

Jamar is the only reason Leuer didn't have 35 points (Leuer had 5 quick pts in < 1 min in the 2nd half w/ JO, who just couldn't keep up, on him).  JS had a FANTASTIC game.  Best performance he's had in a long, long time.  Jamar's better-than-usual O and solid D, Jake's ridiculous superman performance, and Spradling's D were all big positives, IMO.  Really wish that we'd fed it in to Jamar or Curt more to try to foul Leuer out.

just curious, you still holding out hope Nick doesn't get run?  Did you expect something other than what he gave us tonight?

I'm seriously not trying to be a dick, and it's easy to point fingers now, but as soon as Nick got in, I was praying that the only time he would touch the ball would be when he was ready to shoot.  His passes are rough ridin' awful, half assed bullshit.  I didn't think it was possible to throw the ball away 3 times in one possession but Nick was able to accomplish that tonight in a critical situation.

i think i read your original question wrong.  thought you were asking about expectations for next year.

so, if re. tonight's game, no, not really.  russell can make scoring look easy at times, but he's so shaky with the ball/decisions.  you'd think that wisconsin would be a decent matchup for him since they don't pressure, don't do much to force quick decisions.  but you'd still have to assume he'd play more or less as he has all year.

They don't pressure, yes, but they do a decent job of collapsing inside. That bothered even Jake at times tonight, and Russell just completely lost his crap over it.

i used to think that clent stewart was the worst top 150 big 12 guard i would ever see. i was wrong.

nick can't even make simple passes on the perimeter. blows my mind.
