His plan is really coming together beautifully.

I thought he was closing Gitmo. Wasn't that an actual plank of the platform he ran on?

He signed the executive order (http://www.whitehouse.gov/the_press_office/ClosureOfGuantanamoDetentionFacilities/) his first week in office.

can't wait till the "he has virtually no power over that" replies start (or continue) to come. not just on this issue.

i think he cares less about the middle east's oil than Bush did. should probably start caring more though.
OT: What would it take for a 1930's scale depression? Oil at $180 + an 8.8 in California?

I think Obama cares just as much if not more. I mean were at "war" with the entire region, not to mention troop increases, bombing Pakistan, etc. Bush and Barry do work for the same people.

Worst President of our lifetimes.
I'm truly embarrassed for the people that voted for him. They were so naive and awestruck, either oblivious or willfully ignorant about his lack of substance. The guy sold them "hope and change" like a door-to-door bible salesmen. Think of John Goodman from "O Brother Where Art Though", he was a 2008 version of that.

And now he is pushing for an extension of No Child Left Behind, I think simply to keep the huge, expensive, bureaucracy it has become. He loves Bush policies.

He gave good speeches though :dunno:

I'm pretty sure the price of gas wasn't $1.49 in January 2009.
Regardless of how bad of job he's doing, I think you are exaggerating.

The national average on Jan 1, 2009 was $1.61, so I would assume there were many places where the price was $1.49. But, prices did spike a bit when he took office, then a steady increase.

Nope, Barry pushed the high gas price button, just like Bush did.
It is funny that people don't talk about it as much. There is this doucher that lives on Roe that puts self made political signs in his yard to show people that he is a dumbass. He had a sign that said something to the effect of "gas was blahahha when Bush took office, his friends have done well" I should go knock on his door and ask him what he thinks now. It is probably still Bush's fault.

The gas prices going up and down haven't had much at all to do with Bush or Obama. Kudos to republicans for not blaming Obama like the democrats blamed Bush.

Here's a chart of the average price of gas in KC. You can make it anywhere or any date range you like. Big plummet at the end of the Bush administration, largely due to the contracting economy. Then there were a few fits and starts on a slow climb followed by more or less level prices for about a year. Of course there's the recent spike.
One things probably for sure, we'll likely never see the $1.49 again. That was a pre-9/11 type price.
