I think I hate it. Someone tell me I shouldn't.

because we were talking NIT in late January.
-
You should hate it, Utah State is the kind of team I hate to see our "everybody run to the ball leave the guy wide open shooting the 3" defense play.
-
I didn't notice. Where we playing?
-
tuscon. not a good match up for either round.
-
Utah State:
kenpom #17
twice as close to Tucson as K-State
kenpom 7th most experienced team in the nation
Awesome 12-seed, guys, thanks for that.
-
think positive, dorks
-
we are a 5 seed. thats awesome. go cats!
those guys (usu) also didn't pass the eye test when CBS showed them on tv, if they play like they look should be a long day for USU.
-
I'm not too upset...we were probably the worst 5 seed. But of the other 12 seeds: Memphis, Richmond, and the play-in game (Clemson-UAB), I probably like our matchup better than Richmond and not much worse than Memphis. Yeah they're 30-3 but theres a lot of mid-low major teams with redic records that are very beatable. USU would have been sub .500 in the Big 12.
-
i wish were got St. John's 6 seed. we're f'd even if we make it past Utah State. goddamnit. now I have to actually start paying attention to spring practice reports. Go Tuggle!
-
I wonder what the QB depth chart is going to look like.
-
we know from experience how awesome a matchup Wisky is for us.

Because we drew the 67th best 3pt % team in the NCAA?
-

I would think Tuggle, Sams, then Klein. I'm hoping our lights out defense allows us to make some of our OOC games blowouts so Sams gets some good time in.
-
Well, at least the weekend after next just opened up for all of us. :users:
-
USU isn't that good. Best win is over Saint Mary's. Played BYU close when the Cougars weren't particularly strong early, then got curb-stomped by G-town. A paper tiger if I ever saw one.

I've got (13) Belmont knocking off (4) Wisconsin. You guys are in the Sweet 16 if you get past Utah St, and then it's :bracketmouse:

They're basically Northern Iowa.

I rough ridin' hate the fact that we're the 12 over 5 upset that I'd pick this year if I wasn't a q@. :frown:
...and I still might...

Meh. The one that everyone expects is the one that never happens.

Patently false.

so then pick it and shut the eff up about it :ck:

:goodbyecruelworld:
it's very hard to beat a good team twice in a four-year span
almost impossible really
-
This year's team and Beas' team are nothing alike.

kenpom/rpi is pretty much worthless here unless you think that the quality of their opponents is comparable to the quality of ours. i don't. at all. the selection committee got usu's seed right. we should be able to stomp on them.
-
i looked at a few minutes of an espn3 game. they don't look good enough to be a 12 seed, to be honest. they look easy to guard, sloppy with the ball, passive on defense and not particularly talented.
i want to see more, to try and resolve the discrepancy between how they look and their ratings, but i just can't imagine them beating kstate, unless they have a ftrate of like a 100 or something.
they do kill the dboards, though. 5 guys, pretty much every shot.
they have a guy that's like a white jamar samuels clone. pretty funny, though he doesn't run right for a samuels.

Good observos.
They rate well because they are 30-3, they killed a lot of the teams they played while forcing them into ridiculously low shooting percentages, they don't give up offensive rebounds at all, and Stew Morrell is a very good coach for that level of basketball. But they have plenty of flaws and don't present any of the match-up issues that I'd be most concerned about, especially long guards with the ability to drive and score.
It will be interesting to see how Frank attacks their weird 3-2 match-up zone.

it seemed like the corners were wide open, but their opposition (boise st) didn't try to run anyone down there. their wings are short and don't seem to cover a ton of ground. i'd think that mcgruder and spradler could shoot the cover off two or three balls against that.
would like to see what they look like against a team that puts a shooter in the corner though.

Toughest, hardest, hellbracket I've ever seen in the history of brackets including conference and pre-season tourny brackets and also NBA playoffs. :dubious:

Agreed. I would even bet two teams from our bracket make the Elite 8, and one makes the Final 4. Am I out of line?
-
If you were to split up the teams in our hellbracket amongst the other brackets our bracket's teams would end up fielding the entire sweet 16 :dubious:
