Hey guys it's that time of the year again (yes MARCH MADNESS) which means the KSU SUPERCATS are dancing again. Since we (mostly) live smack dab in the middle of Big XII country, the Big XII teams are the ones most familiar to us. I think this thread should be where we "break down" potential match-ups for not only those WILD WILD Wildcats, but also the other teams that will be joining us in the Basketball Ball.
In this first edition of Big 12 Basketball Break-Down I will cover the following topics: Best and Worst Losses for each team and then the "Nightmare Matchup" ( :ohno:) for each team.
Best and Worst Conference Losses:
They say you are as good as your best win and as bad as your best loss, so it makes sense to "BREAK THIS DOWN" for each team:
Kansas Jayhawks
> Best Win - Kansas State @ home
> Worst Loss - Kansas State on road
A team almost completely defined by its in-state foe. It's rare that a team's season is encapsulated by a single opponent. All you Jayhawks out there better hope K-State is the REAL DEAL.
Texas Longhorns
> Best Win - Kansas on road
> Worst Loss - Colorado on road
What else can be said? The 'Horns can be very good, but they can also struggle against a team with a "scorer".
Kansas State Wildcats
> Best Win - Texas on road
> Worst Loss - Colorado @ home
The hottest team in the conference is also the one with the largest spread between good wins and bad losses. The epitome of inconsistent, Cat fans better hope the little engine that could (Jake Pullen) can keep the Catrain on the tracks!
Texas A&M Aggies
> Best Win - Kansas State @ home
> Worst Loss - Baylor @ home
The Aggie Truck must have great suspension. No bumpy ride here! You get what you get with the Aggies. A consistent team that hums along and for the most part beats teams it should and doesn't lose to teams it shouldn't.
Missouri Tigers
> Best Win - Kansas State @ home
> Worst Loss - Oklahoma State on road
Tiger fans are left scratching their heads. That Ole Mizzou Magic just doesn't seem to work on the road. Missouri is the definition of a "HOME TEAM", capable of beating most teams at home, but well below average outside the state of Missouri.
NIGHTMARE MATCHUPS! :ohno:
Kansas Jayhawks > North Carolina Tarheels
> The Jayhawks want no part of the hottest team in the ACC. UNC is the perfect type of team to outrun the Jayhawks in a shootout. A frustrated set of twins would make March Macabre.
Texas Longhorns > Brigham Young
> The Longhorns can't stop a scorer and that's the Jimmer to a "T". Texas fans want to "steer" clear of the Mormon Monster.
Kansas State Wildcats > Wisconsin Badgers
> The Purple Cats of Wildcat land know that a grinder could "grind" their season to a halt. Wisconsin has just the blonde boogie-men to derail the Cat's inside game.
Texas A&M Aggies > Connecticut Huskies
> Oh them Fightin' Aggies are Frightened Aggies when it comes to the Huskies of UConn. UConn has the talent edge and a player that A&M simply has no answer for. Kemba Walker is the "nightWalker" that would put the Aggies to sleep.
Missouri Tigers > Pittsburgh Panthers
> Pitt is the black cat that would be bad luck for the Tigers. Bruisers that would dominate the glass yet still hold onto the ball enough to shutdown the Tigers frenzied full-court forty minutes. Mizzou has no clue how to stop Pitt from establishing the tempo they want.
Well guys remember this is an interactive website so feel free to add your own "break-downs" and get your brackets ready for some bustin'!

Totally agree about Wisconsin. Bucky is our rough ridin' kryptonite.
-
Are we the best win for every team that beat us this year? Colorado is the only team that might be a little iffy.
-
I don't think we are inconsistent. Pretty much the same for stretches of the season.

@MU was a bigger win for KU in my humble IMO.
Illinois on a neutral court is a pretty good win for MU too.
-

Perhaps, but we do play the level of our opponent and that is heavily reflected in our Best Win and Worst Loss. Anyone else out there with a great "Break Down" of the BXII? Maybe our Duke friends can "BREAKDOWN" the ACC dancers for us!
-
I think KU is a better win than at UT.
-
Arizona on a neutral court and Texas A&M at home are both better wins for KU than K-State. Also, Pittsburgh is a terrible matchup for everyone.

They have better records but I think all of your fans would have traded a loss to either one of those schools if it meant not getting swept by K-State.

KU sweeps K-State if Pullen doesn't have the game of his life.

The game of his life was BYU in the tourney last year

No, it wasn't. His career high is the 38 points he put up against KU this year in Manhattan.

The game of his life was against KU this year. It didn't have to be the game of his life for K-State to win. It had to be a good game, but not necessarily 38.

Game of his life was still BYU. Much higher stakes, and he had to guard the Jimmer :runaway:

Don't know if I'd go that far buddy-boy... you guys kind of got your ass handed to you in a number of facets during that one.
-
UT's best win might be UNC in Charlotte and their worst loss UConn @ home.
-
84-68 really has been debilitating. buck up lil bro. we did our part for the family.

A team almost completely defined by its in-state foe. It's rare that a team's season is encapsulated by a single opponent. All you Jayhawks out there better hope K-State is the REAL DEAL.
best win is mizzou in Columbia considering the tigers hadn't lost there all year. worst loss: ut in Lawrence. seemingly in control then completely fold in the 2nd half.
Texas Longhorns
> Best Win - Kansas on road
> Worst Loss - Colorado on road
What else can be said? The 'Horns can be very good, but they can also struggle against a team with a "scorer".
nothing else could be said. ut should easily make it to final to face ku/ksu winner. they were rewarded for finishing 2nd in a league w/ an unbalanced schedule. will be nice to end that crap next year.
ON THE TRACKS!!!
Texas A&M Aggies
> Best Win - Kansas State @ home
> Worst Loss - Baylor @ home
The Aggie Truck must have great suspension. No bumpy ride here! You get what you get with the Aggies. A consistent team that hums along and for the most part beats teams it should and doesn't lose to teams it shouldn't.
hate them. hate their style. can't stand watching them. hope they all break their legs in warm ups and they have to forfeit. Turgeon is Dana Altman w/ better recruits.
Missouri Tigers
> Best Win - Kansas State @ home
> Worst Loss - Oklahoma State on road
Tiger fans are left scratching their heads. That Ole Mizzou Magic just doesn't seem to work on the road. Missouri is the definition of a "HOME TEAM", capable of beating most teams at home, but well below average outside the state of Missouri.
not sure they have a win that stands out. ISU on the road was just as difficult for them as KSU at home.
go Mizzou crush aTm

No, it wasn't. His career high is the 38 points he put up against KU this year in Manhattan.
He held Jimmer to 20ish points, and most of those came late when it didn't matter anyway. Pullen accounted for a 60 point swing in that game with his scoring and his defense. FWIW, I don't think we beat you guys this year if our bigs don't completely dominate yours.
-
KU sweeps stays within single digits of K-State if Pullen doesn't have the game of his life scores around his season average.
FYP Beems. You are welcome bro.
-
Pulled had a helluva game last time against us. Our guards couldn't contain him at all. I bet Bill sticks Elijah Johnson on him in the tourney, assuming they meet.
-
Arizona on a neutral court and Texas A&M at home are both better wins for KU than K-State. Also, Pittsburgh is a terrible matchup for everyone.
beating kenpom #46 at home is the best conf win? hawks win at Mizzou is way better.
agree Pitt would be a nightmare for anyone. but why does Chingon single them out as a nightmare for Mizzou. their interior strength and toughness? what about Florida as a more comparable team in the cpu ratings that would be a really tough matchup for the Tigers?
-
Now wait a minute Chinky, What gives you the right to break something down for us?

This is an interactive website LinuxCat! I am just starting the "break down" conversation. Warm up your fave distro and feel free to post your own. You seem like a Debian kind of guy, am I right? I am sure you have the aptitude () for it!
-
web 2.0 mother fuckers :driving:
-
Well in that case, i haven't really checked out Debian, i use Ubuntu currently at home as well as win 7 and snow leopard. It's a computer of all kinds.
As for the breakdown, i'm all for Da Cats. :bball:
Honestly, as long as NU or OSU beats the piss out of KU i'm happy. :chainsaw:

Enrique backing down the Mongoloid twin(s) was phenominal additionally, McGruder was raining down the 3's all NIGHT!!!

Well there is a much needed update!
Colorado Buffaloes
> Best Win - Texas @ home
> Worst Loss - Oklahoma on road
Colorado is an offensive dynamo! Burks, Higgins, and Knutson sounds like a law firm and it shows the in the way they establish themselves on the court.
NIGHTMARE MATCH UP
Colorado Buffaloes > Kentucky Wildcats
> The Buffs like to score and score a lot. They have a weakness in giving up the three ball however. Kentucky is loaded with young players who would revel in a shootout making it a Knightmare for the Buffaloes.
-
Sorry, Little Bro. KU's best win in the Big 12 was Texas A&M.

so a home game against a top 20ish team is your best win?

In the Big 12... yeah. It would have probably been K-State if you guys hadn't been so full of fail.

guys this is where you are forced by Chingsquawk to post your "nightmare" matchups.
