No, Mizzou had clear path to basket, Morris fouled. Clear as day intentional foul.

And you know I always think that Bob isn't the 'homer' type and calls it like it is and to get that type of reaction from him on that call speaks volume on how bad that 'intentional' was.
an actual post on kusports:jfc :facepalm:QuoteAnd you know I always think that Bob isn't the 'homer' type and calls it like it is and to get that type of reaction from him on that call speaks volume on how bad that 'intentional' was.
Maybe they don't understand that he can get an intentional without throwing an elbow
It was definitely a foul, but I don't think it should have been an intentional. Morris was clearly going after the loose ball.

Break-away Rule (Intentional Foul) - a player shall not intentionally prevent nor foul an opponent that has a clear path to the basket. A break-away is defined as a clear path to the basket where no defender/opponent is between the offensive player and the basket, nor has the chance to catch up to the offensive player.

I would have been pissed at the call had it been called on KSU, but I think I agree with it. It was obviously a foul, but it if had been called it would have taken away MU's guaranteed two points from the layup. So the refs weren't left with any choice but to call the intentional. That being said, Davis and even more so Piper are total embarassments to radio. It was definitely a foul, but I don't think it should have been an intentional. Morris was clearly going after the loose ball.

Looked to me like the ball was still up for grabs, but I can see why the ref called it like he did.
:lol:BITB
Always wondered what this meant. Bang in the butt?
i've never heard a radio team that complains so much about the refs. i did not see the call in question in this clip but they complain constantly anyways.
Bob is the single reason that every KU fan thinks that big 12 refs are out to get them and that they win the league every year in spite of the refs.

I listened to quite a bit of the KU game on the radio today. Was it just me, or were Piper and Bob both bitching about the officiating non-stop.
If I were a KU homer, I would LOVE that Bob and Piper broadcast. However, it's probably THE most homered broadcast in America...they say "We" all the time when referring to the game, etc. I rough ridin' love it if I am a KU fan listening, but it's amazingly annoying to everyone else.

It was a horrible call, but I will never defend Bob Davis. Listening to him call a game is impossible if you don't know every KU player and coach on a first name basis and you don't want to constant bitching about the refs calling fouls on KU.
Morris was clearly going after the loose ball.If by "loose ball" you mean "hand", then I totally agree.

It's awfully conspiratorial of me to have this attitude, but, I can't bring myself to believe that national media, especially CBS, doesn't play to KU's real national value (in their minds). What is that value ? Their eastern audiences love to see KU get beat - that simple. They don't like us blowing out teams for that reason, so, it's not hard to convince me they bias the whistles.

Mizzou gets more favorable calls at home than any other team in the Big 12. It's a fact.

Mizzou shoots an average of 23.4 free throws at home compared to 18.5 on the road. I'd say that's more than just a coincidence.

Let's see... 1-7 in Big 12 road games (14%) vs. 21-1 at home (95%). Mizzou shoots an average of 23.4 free throws at home compared to 18.5 on the road. I'd say that's more than just a coincidence.

This. I will say that listening to Bob Davis while KU is getting crushed in football is a very enjoyable experience, though. I found myself listening to almost the entire Southern Miss/KU game this past football season while I was driving just because of how hilariously deflated Bob Davis sounded the entire game.
Looked to me like the ball was still up for grabs, but I can see why the ref called it like he did.

Congrats beams, you may have a future as a hocker announcer.
Listened to the KU/MU game on the way to Manhattan yesterday (mistakenly thought our game started at 2:30). Told friends it would sound like that if K-State mic'ed me up for a game except they would be more swearing.
Totally, unprofessional and embarrassing.
I remember a play almost exactly like that last year involving Clemente. Might have been our home game against KU. Anyone remember?
Really wish i could have listened to the 84-68 to hear how bob was taking it!!

I'm really looking forward to your _fan esc breakdown of how each team fares home vs road in fouls called, free throws, etc.
TIA!!!
Doesn't really remind me of my grandpa but my grandpa wasn't Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!).fixed for me
But then the BITB pointed out that Bob Davis is fantastic because you can tune in to him, listen to one sentence come out of his mouth, and you know immediately how the game is going. I agree completely. Bob Davis is fantastic. I can easily tolerate the arrogant gloating if I know there is even a slim chance that I might hear the despondent depression.

Really made the Jim Rose meltdowns some of the best radio of all time. That OSU game where he was practically in tears apologizing to the fans was incredible. I took the radio into the bathroom and peeled one off into the sink.
