At least Gottlieb put Pullen in there. More surprising though was Lunardi giving POTY to Pullen. All the others are horrible.

LOL as Self as the COY.

LOL as Self as the COY.

Why is this so funny?  I can seriously see him getting the award.

LOL as Self as the COY.

Not really, who else would get it?
Barnes - melting down
Turgeron - 3rd is nice, but they aren't lighting the world on fire
FRANK - amazing turn around, but you can't be COY when you start 2-5

The thing I'll never understand is the Morris thug for POY. What makes him special? He's annoyingly average.

I will always hate Andy Katz, so I'm not shocked, but he just wrote an article about Martin for COY and then when it comes voting him....goes another direction. What a douche.

I think people see Morris as the POY because of his efficiency.  He only averages about 17 ppg, but he doesn't take all that many shots, compared to the scoring leaders.

Are they picking who they think will win the award or who they would vote for?

Yeah, he is really good.  Complete douche of a human (from what I've seen) but really good at offensive basketball.

Do they take the whole season into account or just B12 games?

If he's so good, why doesn't he take more shots? hmmmmmmmmmmmm

He doesn't need to take more shots.  That team is loaded with talent.

If K-State had Marcus Morris, you guys would probably be 1st in the Big 12 right now.  He's averaging 19 ppg in conference play (17.3 ppg overall), while shooting over 60% from the field.  He's got a variety of post moves, and he's also got the ability to shoot from the perimeter.  NBADraft.net has him going #13 in the NBA lottery next year.

By the way, if you looked up "annoyingly average" in the dictionary, you'd find a picture of Jamar Samuels.

I've met Marcus a couple times, and he's actually a really good guy.  He doesn't get in trouble off of the court, and he actually engages in classroom discussion, unlike a lot of the college kids these days who just sit there with a blank look on their face whenever the teacher asks a question.  Sure, he throws some elbows on the court and plays thuggish sometimes, but I would much rather have guys like that than guys who are soft, goodie two shoes pussies.

I understand that Macus is a good player on the 1st place team, but my vision is clouded by watching him in 2 games this year against KSU.

Morris is averaging 11.5 pts per game at .47 pts per minute played
Pullen is averaging 29.5 pts per game at .83 pts per minute played

Morris did this against our average at best big men.
Pullen did this against your future NBA caliber players.

What about Pullen's 50 assists to 46 turnovers during conference play?  There is more to player of the year than scoring.

Why?  He's leading the Big 12 in rebounding as well as double doubles, and he's an inch taller than Marcus.  He also has a longer wingspan than Marcus and is a better 3-point shooter.

Are you talking about Pullen?

Jon Sundvold said that he is the best defender in the Big 12.

So to recap:
top scorer in the conference during conference games
best defender in the Big 12
the leader on his team
and knows where to get the best discounts at Dillards

Any questions?
