Cowherd on ESPN Radio was talking about it yesterday, saying a significant sports news outlet is about ready to drop a big ol Dime on a Top 10 Football program. I saw a guy I know who works in the sports department at the local daily rag and he said he's hearing the same thing. Apparently Finebaum or somebody down in SEC talk radio land has been talking about it as well and talking about how Tennessee and Auburn both offered up cash to Cecil Newton.

I really need to listen to PAWWWWWWL more.

There's supposed to be some big good news for TCU today too :dunno:
-
Yeah, I wonder what that's all about at TCU. They've already announced and started their stadium renovation, they've already announced the Big East, so what else could it be?

Thought I read somewhere that a professor at TCU was going to blow the lid off of the athletic department covering up miss conduct by football and basketball players that included academic fraud and drugs and stuff.

Wouldn't be surprised on the Oregon thing, but would rather it be Auburn or Tenn.
Would love it to be Auburn, then Cam refuse to give anything back. Only hope that they all have their NC rings before it lands. Keep it all Cam.

So what are the rumblings about Oregon? It's pretty well-known what some of the scuttlebutt is about Auburn & Tennessee, but I'd like to know what's rumored with the ducks, TIA. (if they go on probation or death penalty, can we ease into their uniform deal?)

"For the record, Oregon is not the school we have heard connected to these rumors. Nor is it Auburn. Nor will we mention the school’s name we’ve heard floated around as it’s not been remotely confirmed."

Would love to see the NCAA vs. Oregon Phil Knight/Nike

Easy there, bro. Nike sets us up.
-
If it's Auburn then
We already know the NCAA will take the NC from them in about 5 years, same with the Heisman. That's how college football works.

Cowherd on his show said that he's waiting for confirmation by his sources, but he said it's definitely not Auburn.

I know, I know. I would obviously be rooting for the University of Oregon Swooshes if this happened. Would be fantastic to watch.

I'm going to go out on a limb and predict nothing major comes of this.
-
Yeah, it's getting absurd. Awhile back it was Texas who going to get blown up, then several SEC schools, then Oregon . . . somebody has either had the kibosh put on this or they couldnn't make it all stick so in the end . . . nothing.
-
I'm going to go out on a limb and predict nothing major comes of this.
yep

I accept full responsibility for this.

we give a JUCO player a used beamer. TNew has to wait until football is over to have his agent purchase an Escalade :goodbyecruelworld:

Curious what Okcat's super secret insider sources (from all over the reservation) have to say about this.

Wonder what's the motivation for the players to talk about this? Seems typical of every SEC program otherwise.

This...After we finish the stadium renovations we should pool up all our excess money and start buying recruits so snyder can win a natty when he is 83.

That story reminds me of a buddy who played at juco then southern missouri or whatever that school is in Joplin. I went by his place about a year after he graduated and he had a giant 55" TV and 2 xbox360's and a PS3.
I asked him why he had 2 xbox 360's.....He told his coaches at Southern Missouri he was going to transfer to Pitt State and they decided to change his mind. An assistant coach took him to best buy and told him to buy whatever he wanted...my buddy picks out the huge TV, a PS3 and another xbox(he already had one), a ton of video games and a bunch of movies....Assistant coach buys everything with the schools credit card.

Think Auburn is in a bad spot right now. Having a bad year in the SEC and the NCAA want to not look like an asshat. They are weak enough right now that they could be made an example of.
-
"Coaches would say, 'Don't tell anyone where you got it from,'" Blanc said. McNeil recounts a meeting with then-defensive coordinator – and current Florida coach – Will Muschamp in 2007:
"I had no clue what it was about because I'd never directly asked him for anything," McNell said. "He slid about $400 over to me. He went into a drawer and gave me money and said, 'Is this enough? Is this good?' And I said, 'Yeah, I'm good.'"
Muschamp denied making the payment through a spokesperson, Roberts said.
Should at least get a crappy BMW or something...

I am going to see how this plays out, I don't really trust Selena Roberts (see Duke lax)

That's hilarious, but it's hard for me to believe that MSSU could be cheating at football like that and still be so awful.

However, the documents also state NCAA enforcement staff said they had "no finding of lack of institutional control and no finding of unethical conduct," key points when it comes time for punishment to be considered, KATU reported. Oregon is expected to appear before the NCAA's committee on infractions sometime this year.
So, not much is going to happen.

the fact that the institution was in control when this happened should make their penalties worse. JUST AN IMO.
