Title: Plane ride to Austin
Post by: The_chicken on March 02, 2011, 01:19:57 AM
Did anyone else hear the report with about a min left in the game about the team having to stop in Dallas because their plane got struck by lightning? It's like the ghosts of Texas knew what kind of beating was going to ensue so they tried their hardest to stop us from getting there and pounding UT.

I believe the plane they were flying out of Manhattan on got hit by lightning as it was coming into Manhattan. They were supposed to leave early evening on Sunday, but had to wait until later, I think around 11:00 or so, to fly out to Austin b/c the plane was being checked out.

Why do we even need a plane...can't Jake just carry the team on his back?

It's like the ghosts of Texas Phil Bennett's wife knew what kind of beating was going to ensue so they tried their hardest to stop us from getting there and pounding UT.

This was discussed by 450K and Underwood on the Frank Martin Radio Show. The plane that was on it's way to Manhattan to pick up the team was struck by lightning en route. A backup plane had to be sent and that took longer than expected. Then when the team finally boarded the new plane to head south, a new thunderstorm started up and the plane went way west out of the way to try and avoid the storm. The plane ride took an hour or so longer than it should have and was never smooth.
