Title: Beating MU...
Post by: kso_FAN on February 26, 2011, 02:13:23 PM
1st half:
   Pace   PPP   eFG%   TO%   OR%   FTR
KSU   35   1.18   60.0%   23.1%   46.7%   36.7%
Opp   35   1.10   50.0%   17.3%   31.3%   57.7%

2nd half:
   Pace   PPP   eFG%   TO%   OR%   FTR
KSU   33   1.17   56.3%   27.1%   41.7%   54.2%
Opp   33   0.96   46.4%   15.0%   20.0%   32.1%

Game:
   Pace   PPP   eFG%   TO%   OR%   FTR
KSU   68   1.18   58.3%   25.0%   44.4%   44.4%
Opp   68   1.03   48.1%   16.2%   25.0%   44.4%

Several things stand out.

The Cats had a great offensive night and still had a bunch of missed open looks. Still, they took advantage of MU's weakness, allowing open shots.

Evening up the FTR in the 2nd half was huge, as well as shooting much better form the FT line. Even with the silly fouls on Pullen, we still got our share and took advantage.

Killed them on the boards, and really took advantage of extending possessions.

Defense was really solid in the 2nd half; MU ended up at 46% eFG%, but was closer to 40% until they made 3 meaningless shots after the Cats got up 14.

The biggest negative was not handling the ball well, and we had some really silly TOs, but overcame it with shooting and rebounding.

Where do you think our TO% should have been considering we were playing MU?

Ideally you want a better TO% than the away team on your home court.  That was not the case.

Right, I was just wondering if you were to pick before the game what you would realistically want K-State's TO% to be, what that number would be.

Probably around 20-21%.
