So I want to start making videos. Little videos of things I have captured and edit them down to little 3-5 minute movies.
I'd like to throw music in, edit/chop/blend frames, slo-mo, etc.
I have a MacBook and Movie Maker software. Sony Bloggie Touch MP4.
Is this all I need? Is there a more elite software I should procure? Chunkles, 33, PW (among others) are wizards at this crap and I want to see how awful I am.
I leave you in the grace and favor of the lord,

Among other things. Very tastefully done though.

iMovie?
Yep.

iMovie?
Yep.
Yeah, for what you are doing iMovie would work fine. If you are like me though once you get bored with iMovie and want more options and more control over the editing process you may want to try Final Cut Express or something similar. FCE is pretty cheap for what you get. Around $150.

do you have Keynote (Mac version of Excel)? That helps with transitions and such, but still pretty limited.
The new imovie in ilife 11 or whatev looks like it has better canned transistions but I still think they suck for making quality vids. If it's just for personal home stuff, imovie does all you need. Otherwise do what _33 said.
I'm really cheap with this stuff.
