Mrs. ETP and I are taking a trip there in late May. Anyone been? Hotel recommendos?
-
seems weird to go to from Kansas to "napa" when san francisco is so close. I mean, just go to SF for a week and spend a day in Napa or something.

We are, dumbass. Napa for 2 days.
-
2 days in Napa? Why not spend a few days in San Fran, then hit Napa for a couple? San Fran has a lot to offer.
-
yeah, def. spend more time in sf, but some time in napa. but mostly in sf
-
dude,
you should really go to sanfran as well.
-
Pretty sure most people only spend a couple of days in Napa while they are visiting San Fran. Look into that.
-
Boy, san fran's much better than napa too.
-
If by chance you change your mind (and suddenly become smart) and decide to go to San Francisco I would recommend you stay here. http://www.sanfranciscohiltonhotel.com/ I'm pretty sure its where Bob Dylan wrote Hotel California.
-
LOL at all of these people telling you to go to San Fran. Go to Sacramento. You'll have a better time.
-
etp,
you both still have enough time to just flush this whole bad idea and hostelpak w/ me in a couple weeks. planning on attending this...

The World Champion San Fran Giants play in San Fran, which is close to Napa. Could probably catch a game, just a thought :dunno:
-
it will hurt your head driving to napa. :barf:
-
Some of the things I did in Napa-
I stayed here: http://www.churchillmanor.com/ Really reasonable rates, awesome character, great food, and within walking distance of dowtown napa and all the great restaurants.
Went to a few wineries- Sterling is a must.
Restaurants were the best part of Napa. I don't remember the names of the places though. I hear Morimoto opened a restaurant there if you like Japanese.

Depends how you go. 101 to 37 isn't hard at all. On the way back I took a detour to Senson Beach and Muir Woods on Highway 1. Holy crap. That was kinda crazy. I highly recommend it if you can stomach swervey mountain roads.

Marriott in Napa has a fantastic deal in the winter. $99/night gets you 3 free wine tastings for two, with a free bottle at every winery, a bottle upon check-in at the hotel and a complimentary tasting from a local winery every night from like 5-7. This was from 2010 though so maybe its different. Book through travelzoo.
This post is coming live to you from the Mariott Marquis in San Fran btw. Don't be a complete noodle. Stay here and saunter up to Napa for a couple days, ya nimmie.

Say hello to Dick Vermeil for me.

Be sure to stop by one of these for the authentic experience.
