That is the thing though KU fans hate him too and claim he doesn't respect them. He doesn't hate KSU. he was going off about how great the atmosphere was at the OOD last year at our game. Just because he points out that KU kicks our ass all the time doesn't mean he hates KSU.

Care to elaborate? When he does a game you know it is big time. He has more excitement in his 70+ year old body than most of us probably have. He knows the game, and does a lot for it outside of just calling the games. Pretty incredible human if you ask me.

To me, Vitale's big drawback is that he always spends ten minutes talking about KU or Duke or North Carolina even though they aren't playing in the game he is broadcasting while ignoring the game action. Stick with analyzing the current game; if you want to talk about other teams become a studio analyst, where they are supposed to do that role.

I'm not saying his love for everyone should mean people don't hate him. I was just observing that his haters are stupid. I also noted that he loves everyone, which would be why people that hate him because he talks about Duke are stupid, but does not necessarily apply to people that hate him because of his voice or expressions.
It's just dumb to hate him. Hating Clark Kellogg, however, is completely reasonable.

I get that, and it does get annoying at times, but you also have to take into account that he is pretty old school. For much of his career there wasn't a lot of internet, etc and a lot of the time people found out about national things during game broadcasts. Plus, I'm sure if the producers had a problem with it they would tell him to stop.

Vitale being willing to accept money and come to Manhattan to speak at Midnight Madness is one of my best college K-State hoops memories.
For that alone I'll aways have a spot for Vitale.

I like his excitement, but he could throw in some new terminology once in a while. I'd watch anything Gus was calling, even Dax giving a slide show presentation on how not to give up a layup to a backdoor cut.

Didn't read a lot of the comments.
I used to love Dickie V. when I was a Kentucky fan. I possibly still would if I were still all about the TuckyCats.
However, I am a KSU fan now. UK secondarily. Dickie is stuck in the past. He has trouble adapting. He can't accept that there are not year in year out favorites that are consistent. He wants to love on the traditional powers, which I can appreciate to an extent. Teams don't win off of that though. It seems that no matter the outcome of the game all that he wants to talk about is the team with the most history and fall back on this (in a loss) or attribute a win to history. That crap is for the birds.
The thing I will hate the most is the love fest that I will have to endure when he rough ridin' dies. I hope it is soon, when I am not married with kids and have other things to live for.
Gottlieb and guys like him, are the future. (I hope).

It was surprising and Kansas State needed that performance. They have talent and they finally showed why they were #3 in the preseason. Pullen showed why he was preseason All-America with 38. Kansas won so easily the first time they met, so give Frank Martin's team a lot of credit but now they must be consistent
The nicest thing I have heard him say about us all year. It's a fair assessment. I wasn't sure he still knew how to give those. I still hate him though.

Gus is the best play-by-play guy out there(Sciambi is 2nd). I like Bilas as a color commentator(Fran is 2nd).
