Schools are closed, administrative leave from work... folks here are terrified of the stuff. Can't blame 'em

I'm glad you can't blame them...nothing is more obnoxious than people in northern states complaining about people in southern states not being prepared for the snow.  OF COURSE THEY AREN'T PREPARED.  THEY DON'T GET 150 GODDAM INCHES OF SNOW EVERY YEAR. STOP ACTING LIKE YOU'RE SOME KIND OF rough ridin' SNOW-BOUND SUPER STUD.

Do you even need to remove 1" of snow?  Seems like it would get worked over by tires/melt within a day or two.  That's what it does here.  Even below freezing the sun will melt that little.  And I can't imagine the ground is that terribly cold.

I doubt the snow in San Antonio even stuck to the roads.

I have a friend in San Antonio, she posted this picture on facebook today.

1/2 inch of snow = 6 car pile up

I know the southern states aren't used to it, but seriously this is pretty weak:

Snow and ice when we woke up at 7am and roads were totally dry by noon, they have no equipment to deal with this stuff, cheaper to just pull the plug 1-2 times/yr than eff around with buying all the equipment. I saw no fewer than 12 cars in the ditch today on my way to Austin.
