Title: Youngest Coffman?
Post by: EMAWzified on February 03, 2011, 02:08:37 PM
Didn't see him on the Star's list of area signings. Thought he was a 3 star. Would have thought he would get a ride somewhere.
Just curious. Not that I want or anything.

Everybody started pulling their offers midway through the year.  I think they probably watched CCQ and figured out that Chase got all the athleticism.  Pretty sure his lone D-1 offer at one point was Montana.

Supposedly interest fell off a cliff at the beginning of his last season.

The Coffman experiment was a failure, unless we only offered CC to get Freemaw

In which case that's a very marginal success.

At the time I'm sure it sounded like a great idea.  Gets Freems, give CCQ a schollie and a spot on the scout squad, and have a good shot at CCQ's stud little brother.  But then we actually had to play Carson and Cameron ended up not being good (and we still didn't get him).

Looked up his profile on scout. Threw 25 TDs and 14 picks last fall, and says his biggest asset his his accuracy.

nah; pretty sure CCQ was either a gray shirt or a walk-on.  If I remember correctly, he wasn't awarded a scholarship until after the mass exodus of QB's during Ron year 1.   Freeman was already here.

Then we really mumped up.

He was originally a gray shirt, but when Webb, Evridge, and Lopina left, we were down to two scholarship QBs, so Ron moved Carson to a full time student sometime during the middle part of fall camp.

Cam took a couple of trips to Arizona State, and I think he had interest from Wyoming, but none of the services or newspapers show him signing anywhere.

I'm wondering if he's weighing the option to walk-on somewhere or play D2 or something.
