...was absolutely ridiculous.
NU had under .6 points per possession, over 40% TO%, under 20% OR%, and only 36.8 eFG% in the first 20 minutes. 2nd half things evened out a bit, but NU still finished with just over .8 points per possession and 33.5% TO%.
K-State offense wasn't great at 1.05 points per possession. Keeping the TO% at only 18.3% for the game was very nice and a OR% of 37.5% against Nebraska is very good. The 2nd half we did a great job of drawing fouls with an 87.5% FT rate in the final 20 minutes and 49.5% for the game. Considering NU was Top 5 in only giving up 26.2% OR% and very good at opponents FT rate at 28.5% we did a great job of attacking NU's strengths.
That said, NU isn't a good road team, so its a game we should've won like this, and all year when the Cats give us a game we've been expecting all year, we seem to fall back to bad habits rather quickly. With 2 winnable road games coming up, we have to build off tonights effort and keep moving forward.
And we saw when our 2 SRs play like we expected all year (Pullen with 18 points and 6 assists, Kelly 16 points and 4 rebounds) plus solid play from others (McGruds with 10 and 4, Samuels with 8 and 4, JHR with 4 and 8) we can soundly beat teams we should beat soundly.

I guess the thing that makes me happy about this game is that they seemed to play Nebraska's game, and they still beat them soundly.
Some of the half court possessions were really nice looking. I hope they continue to build on that particular segment of their game.

I liked that we drove a lot more than usual. :woot:

Yeah, it was a 65-66 possession game, but we pushed the ball when we could. The more I see our team play though, I think that pace is ideal for us, we aren't as far away from winning NU's way as you think. The difference is IMO we have better athletes than NU overall which allows us to create a bit more and score off of more junk like offensive boards and draw more fouls. We'll see what happens when we go up there though, it could change quite a bit.

And 95 didn't even play.

I would have to go back and watch again to be sure of the exact time but around the 3:00 minute mark left in the first half that we put on a rough ridin' clinic against their half court offense. It would have been easier for Doc to backdoor Jenna Jameson most of the night than the cats.

They got one backdoor pass off and that was on the first possession of the game and we blocked the shot from behind.

of the many puzzling things about this team, one of the most interesting is how they can play such great defense and such poor defense without much temporal spacing between the two.

Dax's dream game.

I found this disappointing.

I'm not big into the intangible BS talking points that this fan base seems to love like leadership and the such. However, to me this is the surest sign that a team isn't mentally all there. The only excuse for this is simple mental laziness. Having your back turned to the opposite side when you're multiple passes away, half fronting on posts, not helping and rotating when the bigs actually front; all inexcusable, all stuff they learn not to do in junior high, all things this good defensive team does when they have those 5 minute bursts when we give up crap loads of points and free throws.
