I thought if a dunk went through the rim fully, it counted. Does it have to actually clear the net? Otherwise, WTF?
-
Dude I was with said if the net causes it to come out it doesn't count. If someone had touched it while going through the net it would have counted. No idea if he is right or not, but it made sense.
-
Has to go all the way through the bottom of the net.
Obviously if someone hits it while still in the net, it would be goal tending.
-
"passes through the net" is a requirement for a legal field goal or free throw attempt to be scored.
-
Has anyone ever seen this happen before? I can't recall it ever happening.
-
no.
-
I actaully saw it happen once earlier this season. Can't remember who it was, though. Had never seen it or even heard that rule before this year.
-
I guess most of you aren't "old enought" to have seen everything that has happened before...no wait if your haven't seen it hasn't happened....

Yes, I've seen it happen quite a few times.
Here's a recent instance from a Wisconsin vs Boston College game . . .

I remember it happening on a McDonalds AA dunk contest a couple years back.
