I want to know how we can get away with this, or in the alternative why MU is the only team in organized basketball permitted to do this.
I'm talking about the play where the defender reaches all the way around the guy with the ball, from behind, and slaps at the ball trying to poke it away. It's a foul at every level starting with biddy ball, even if you don't hit the guy. It's also a favorite of the lazy community center defender who likes to cherry pick.
One shining example of this in action was the play where Pressy reached all the way around Southwell and slapped him across the chest. About two seconds later Southwell got called for an offensive foul pushing Pressy away.
It's f*cking annoying to watch.

40 minutes of fouling.
its a numbers game for the ref. You take the risk that you foul so much to cause turnovers that the refs can't call everything. Then it becomes normalized in the flow of the game so the refs just stop calling minor fouls until mizzou body slams you (see Jake twice).

I was pissed about this call as well. We shouldn't be surprised though, considering the ridiculous home cooking Mizzou gets.

This is about as good of an explanation as you'll get imo. After the Catz game in Boulder last year things in college basketball changed, especially in the Big XII.

I will then come on here and blame the entire game on the officiating just so the Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) posters on this board can call me a tard. In reality we will lose the game because we have a sh*t ton of TO's and actually do foul the opponent at an alarming rate.
Not exactly as I planned, but close enough.
I appreciate those who actually constructively participated in this discussion. Things like the "blatant reach in", "reach around jump ball" (play where a moron tries to get a jump ball call by placing both arms around a guy from behind and grabbing the ball), "barrel roll no travel" not being called properly drive me crazy.
I can understand why the "fire frank" and "the whole loss is Spradling's fault" are more popular and such "great thread ideas", because I understand that this board is dominated by retards, losers, and unbridled cynics who think they are contrarians by all collectively agreeing with one another.
Looking forward to the "hbbiq" assessment of the game based solely on statistics rather than on the guys who actually create them.

Shane should have just elbowed that bitch in the face...I'm all in favor of making our fouls count and taking a tooth or two with them
