My dad passed another part of the Robert legend on to me. It sounds vaguely familiar but it should be recorded for posterity.

 I read one story about him where he had gone to the Missouri basketball game, meeting the team as they got off the bus.  After the game,  he asked Jack Hartman if he could ride the bus back, as his car had broke down.  Jack told him to get to  the back of the bus and not cause any trouble.   Later,  Jack went back to ask Robert where his car had broken down, and Robert said, “Manhattan”.
