There’s no statute of limitations for the crime he’s accused of. If there’s enough evidence to convince you that the event actually happened, why wouldn’t there be enough evidence to convince 11 other jurors (or whatever the number is in MD)?

I think it is far more likely he assaulted her than not.  If I was a juror, there hasn't been enough evidence for me to convict him.  If I was interviewing him for a job, there has been enough evidence for me to pass.

So in your fantasy land the prosecutor is saying: yeah we think it’s “far more likely than not” that he tried to rape the 15 year old, but what’s the point of bringing the case, no one is going to be convinced it ACTUALLY happened.

BTW - just so we’re on the same page, the standard in criminal cases is “beyond a reasonable doubt.” So if you’re saying it’s crazy to think a conviction is possible, you’re saying any person in their right mind has a good reason to doubt Ford’s allegations.

i believe that's false, at least as far as the blasey-ford allegation.  i saw it reported somewhere that attempted rape was a misdemeanor in maryland at the time and subject to statute of limitations (unlike felony sexual crimes).

no idea on the yale allegation.  the avenatti allegation didn't actually accuse him of much, just written to imply crimes.

The statutes were changed in the 90's and not grandfathered for crimes before that's. I think it had already passed at that point anyway.
