QB rotation stunting Sams growth
« on: November 25, 2013, 08:57:29 AM »
Right?  I mean they take him out on 3rd and five like he can't complete a quick out/slant.  He is completing 73% of his passes.  Obviously sometimes his decision making is questionable but that's something that gets better with repetition.  It's like the 3 picks in the OSU game happened (where he was 15-21 with 2 TD's btw) and all of the sudden he can't be allowed to pass.  This QB rotation is hurting KSU in the long run and possibly also currently.  If Sams isn't allowed to develop as a passer then he should go somewhere else.

The coaches only care about completing long bombs.

Sams is some cruel form of brainwashing that Bill is using to get as much of us in line as possible.  Pretty classic method.  Show us something appealing, then beat us.  Repeat until we stop choosing the appealing option and come around to doing exactly what he says is the thing to do.

Did you guys see all the diverse ways OU was getting their QB out in space?  Meanwhile our coaches make Sams run 2 QB draws and then pull him on 3rd and 4.

I wouldn't mind pulling Sams on 3rd down so much if Waters wasn't awful at converting them. He is awful, though, and Sams has been very successful on 3rd down this season.

He has broken me - If HCSS is what it takes for Sams to be the starter then somebody hand me the truck wheel cleaner.

my memory says that they did it some with matt miller but my memory can't even tell me what i have for dinner five days ago so take that fwiw. in sams we have a guy that seems to have unlimited potential but has never in his entire life been allowed to be a full time qb. that's probably what makes him accepting of his role but so mind numbingly frustrating for fans. just let him play and learn and fail sometimes but he absolutely should play.

Yeah, I'm fine with a 2001 if it leads to a 2002/2003.

Big 12 QB usage by percentage:
UT - Waters 85/15
OSU - Sams 86/14
BU - Sams 55/45
WVU - 52/48 Waters
ISU -52/40 Waters
Tech - 71/29 Waters
TCU - 59/41 Waters
OU - 94/6 Waters

It seems we've played the best when the balance is 60/40ish either way.

I think the best game we have played all year was at OSU when it was 86/14 Sams.

Yeah, OSU is probably going to win the conference and if they didn't eff up against WVU they'd be in the national title discussion. We almost beat them at their place. Although Sams did have some terrible throws that game (growing pains)

This is what has frustrated me the most with how Sams has been used. We've seen it every single week with opposing QBs. Every time he runs outside of the tackles its him trying to make something happen instead of a designed play. All of his success this season has been in spite of the completely dry, non creative and repetitive play calling. It's abhorrent.

If you're in the mood for being infuriated like I am, just take a look at the Baylor play-by-play
