My dad met with the government check writing people this week and we cant get any CRP money for our playa lakes unless they have been farmed for 4 years.

jfc (the gubment, not y'all).

I agree sys, very WTF

No, no , no that's a misinterpretation. The whole parcel has to have been "farmed" and defined as ag land for at least 4 years. For God's sake don't till through the low spots/playa lakes since you won't grow anything anyway and it'll make it easier for them to meet the definition of a playa lake wetland down the road. Just change the classification of the entire parcel to "cropland" via farming for it to be eligible for CRP signup - keep in mind your property taxes will go up with this too. Then after 4 years the parcel (as long as the it meets the other requirements at sign-up time) would be eligible for standard CRP, with the playa lakes being a separate CRP contract.

Anyone have any experience converting pastureland into CRP? Most land that is put into CRP is old cropland so my dad just assumed he couldn't put the pasture into CRP but I started doing some research and that may not be the case.

https://www.nrcs.usda.gov/wps/portal/nrcs/detail/ks/programs/?cid=nrcseprd1410561

There is a CRP program called "Riparian Buffer" that I'm sure the "Creek" in our pasture would qualify for.

We also have some wallows/playa lakes in the pasture that might qualify for the "Non-Floodplain Wetland Restoration" or "Marginal Pastureland Wetland Buffer".

He said he would talk to the local FSA rep this week so hopefully we get some more details on the feasibility.

I'm really just looking for ways to prevent him from attempting to raise goats or some other hair brained scheme out there when my uncles lease is up in a couple years.

The FSA rep is the one who will submit all the paperwork and perform the evaluation, and depending on how good they are at their job be able to find a program that the land might be eligible for. Since it's established pasture, your land will only be eligible for certain programs and only if your pasture meets the definition of "marginal" (usually has to deal with the soil type but also historic crop yield records if available).

Keep in mind that all those programs have sign-up periods based on available funding and supposedly the next CRP is opening up at the end of this year/early next.

I'm glad that the football program/Les has decided to be such a great model of accountability and hope Bill and the basketball program take note and follow this refreshing example.

Trim most of that fat off and the steak will taste 8% better.

Absolutely do not do this.

Cdub did it perfect.

I trim steaks down to 1/2" or so of fat so don't fight flare-ups and "U"ing when the fat shrinks. Trimming steaks makes it easier to get the brown all over every single time.

Seems like folks that can immediately discern cases of privilege are struggling to identify rich/well-connected privilege in this case.

i'm going to attempt to replace a toilet tomorrow. the tank cracked, i tried sealing it with plumber's putty but the crack sort of goes around the bottom curve of the tank and when i started to fill it back up with water, the water just lol'd at the putty and leaked immediately. i looked into replacing only the tank, but the toilet is super old (stamp says 1981) and i think i'll just get an entire new toilet. please rank difficulty out of 7. it looks like it should be a 2 but i don't know what i'm going to find under the current toilet, due to the age of the house.

2-2.5. The things that can happen are if the water shutoff doesn't actually shut the water off or leaks and if the mounting ring/bracket is still in good shape or lines up with the new one. Will know once you pull the old toilet off.

So there's a lot of folks on this blog that would prefer a KSU basketball team with less accomplishments as long as the coach was more likeable/entertaining.

And prefer living in the past or thinking pessimistically about the future instead of just living in the moment.

What a bunch of hayseeds.

I actually read the green new deal since it directly relates to what I do for a living. And I got to say, I don't know what AOC's intent is with the plan. It vaguely assumes so many theoretical magic bullets to every problem. Magic bullets that the industry hasn't discovered yet and government involvement won't help with, but slow down.

50k screaming fans after a TD/XP watching Willie pound a T-post into the ground at center field in the eye of the Powercat (a flap of turf peels away to dirt).

*Clang* ONE *CLANG* TWO *CLANNGG* THREE (clanging and screaming intensifies) etc. etc.

missed opportunity to brand "pound the dang post" and use a T-post driver instead of a sledge.

2010 - tailgating on hill north of Arrowhead. Charcoal grill blows/gets knocked over and rolls down hill throwing flaming coals, burgers, and brats with two 300+lb guys chasing after.

Pretty sure they ate some of those brats/burgers that failed the 3-second rule.

What's with all the piss stories in arrowhead?

late 2000s, three rows from the top of the southwest corner against the Titans. The drunk guys behind us had a pee corner.

The absolute worst thing about this trash hire is now we've got to put up with all these trash NDSU fans.

Maybe that was part of the plan. Lose 5k kstate season ticket holders but gain 6k North Dakota season ticket holders.
I'm just worried that NDSU fans are showing this much interest right now because they only have like 4 hours of sunlight.

I've heard that Leavitt now would be interested in K-State as he wouldn't be following a coach with the last name Snyder.
