Admire the clerk in Kentucky for living her beliefs
« on: September 01, 2015, 08:30:14 AM »
Gays agitators want to destroy the clerk who won't issue marriage licenses to anyone.  Put her in jail and fine her until she is bankrupt.  Why not just fire her is she is not doing her job?

Yeah, there really is nothing admirable about that. It's like admiring George Wallace.

yeah i dont understand why this isnt the solution. i cant imagine that if i refused to perform the duties of my job that i would be fined or jailed.

If the the state is going to rely on some religious freedom thing for state employees,  they need to make sure there are others at the same offices with the same abilities to fulfill whatevs function that the original bigot won't, imo.

Also, a public employee shouldn't have the right to not serve a resident.

If you want to be a bigot,  go work at Chick-fil-A.

If you didn't do your job would it cause discrimination to anyone?

The hilarious thing about this story is that this dipshit certified the wedding of a transgendered groom but her dumbass didn't know.

with the caveat that all i know about this is what i've garnered reading this thread, it seems to me that the clerk should be fired, but not fined or jailed.  if there are civil or criminal charges for denying the couple their civil rights, they should be imposed on the clerk's employer, not on the clerk.

my rationale is principally (but prolly not fully), based on the idea that since the clerk hasn't even been fired, the clerk's employer likely did not fully explain to employees the job requirements and penalties for failing to fulfill their duties.  if the employer can prove that it did explicitly inform employees that they have a duty to serve all citizens and what consequences for failing to do so would be, and the employee chose to disregard those instructions, then perhaps the employee should have some personal liability beyond dismissal.

all of the above is based on ethics, not law.  i have no idea what the law says.

I'm fairly certain this is an elected position which means she can't be fired. Being held in contempt of court is standard operating procedure for any civil servant refusing to follow the laws of the jurisdiction that they serve.

just opened up a story on the clerk and saw she is an elected official, not an employee.  so, never mind.

i could have saved myself some typing if i'd have read a paragraph or two before posting.

In that case she should be fined, jailed, and barred from ever holding public office.

I have not independently confirmed this, but here's her marriage history that I heard from a friend...

She marries Mr. A, divorces him while pregnant with twins from Mr. C, marries Mr. B, who then adopts the kids, then divorces Mr. B for Mr. C, then divorces him for Mr. D. But homos are the ones ruining the sanctity of marriage?
