It is always "Big Chemical Company" until you need us!
I could kill the hell out of them mites if it wasn't for Big Government!

Gonna win 'em all!

Just like the bees?
bees and mites are two different pests.

Tell that to the people who get stung by bees! Oh wait, that is wasps.
I meant insects, not pests.

mites aren't insects.  pests was the correct term.

how are they such enormous assholes but nobody in the world has ever heard of them until this week?

I think these are what I'd always have on my crotch the weeks following Country Stampede back in the day.. So it's good to know
I'd buy that story if it only happened to you after the Stampede. I'm believing it happened a lot to you, but it wasn't mites.  At least my doctor just laughed when o tried to use that explanation.

Not a lot, but the more I think about it, I usually had these mite outbreaks during times of high stress or when my immune system was weak.. Maybe Oak trees stress me out

It's gotten a lot better but got a pretty good spider bite recently. Turned a pretty nasty shade of purple and black.

I counted last night.   140 to 150 (some are clustered together).

Good news is that after 2nd day of zyrtec and spraying with isopropyl alcohol itching is almost nil.    :emawkid:

I got mother rough ridin' ravaged this weekend.  I didn't know there were no-see-um's in Kansas but apparently there are.  eff those things.

Also, I got multiple tiny little baby ticks.  rough ridin' ticks in October!

ALSO!  The oak mites are back!  eff those things!

So I went to walk the dog over the weekend, we have a pretty forested walking trail near our house, it was like 8:30 pm so it was dark.  I round the corner and my neighbors are walking up the street from the trail with umbrellas.  It's completely clear skies and dark.  They told me it was because oak mites fall down from the trees on you.   :sdeek:

I was running around the Flint Hills and trying to enjoy nature by killing a relatively small piece of it.

I was sitting in it for several hours glassing.  Also went down into a few of those woody bottoms/draws, had to beat brush and stuff.

One thing, I found what I think is a natural spring and my God I didn't think Kansas was capable of water so clear.  It would rival anything the Rockies can produce.  Just beautiful stuff flowing over limestone.

No.  I've had a thousand ticks before.  I don't get checked every time I get a tick.

The few times I've gone on walks or bike rides this summer, I've come back with several bites.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.
