“You find the kids you think are good fits for Kansas State that have some talent,” Weber said. “Rodney McGruder, Westicles, D.J. Johnson, guys like that that want to come here and work their tails off and end up being really good players. A couple of them, potentially, are now going to be in the NBA. Those are the type of kids you want to get in the program, players that Kansas State fans are proud of.”

I one fell-swoop, Oscar takes credit for recruiting Rodney and putting him (potentially a couple of them) in the NBA.

“We can recruit everybody, but who can you get? That’s the biggest key,” Weber said. “We have tried on a lot of those (high-profile) kids, I promise you. We try and we will keep trying, but they have got to want us, too. You have to make your own evaluations and find out who wants to come to K-State.”

I'm trying - I promise...we want to get those high-profile kids, but it's their fault for not wanting us!

Oscar-haters, Testy_Westy, and all who express hate for all-things-Oscar YOU are the reason this team has united and started playing well consistently. The players believe we all hate them. You've heard Carlbe and others express that they are "the most hated team in the country." Oscar said nobody thought they could defeat Wake, apparently witless that KState was actually favored by odds-makers. I doubt Oscar is smart enough to figure it out himself, but the players see social media.

But we have to keep up the hate. The minute this team started to believe that we love Oscar, they will go back to actually listening to his coaching, and out we go off the winning train.  Can somebody get this guy to Sactown?

Currie is AD for one more month. He should wait until the season ends, whether next Wednesday or the following Thursday, and he should do like Dr. Frankenstein did at the end of the movie and die with his own abomination. Fire Oscar on his way out the door, cleansing the palate for his successor, and vastly improving the view of his legacy on the Wildcat Faithful.

Do it John!

Jerome Tang Coaches Kansas State Basketball / DeCoursy/Underwood/Huggins
« on: February 22, 2017, 09:35:22 AM »
Mike DeCoursy says that Underwood wouldn't go to KState after 1 year at Okie State, and said no coaches have ever done parallel moves like that. When queried about Huggins leaving KState after 1 year to go home to West Virginia he says, "Huggins didn't REALLY want to go to Kansas State. He wanted to be at Cincinnati."

Such logic!

Jerome Tang Coaches Kansas State Basketball / Stan Weber Said We Had...
« on: December 16, 2016, 09:53:44 PM »
...an "outside chance" at an NCAA tournament bid.

He said it today on BITB's show. Pretty significant admission that we still suck. He also said, "We have no stars."

So, what now? If we've lost Stanbot before even league play, why bother caring?

Kansas State Football / We Should Never Have Played This Game
« on: September 03, 2016, 12:23:14 AM »
We are blessed with the finest college football coach in history. This is his 25th year, which is monumental.

Why are we running the schedule for his Silver Anniversary Team through the spectacles of a pencil pushing nerd that has no understanding of the intricacies of negotiating the obstacles around getting a National Championship?

LHC Bill Snyder has placed us twice within one game of a National Championship. And we allow John Currie to determine that the bar needs to be set higher with these season-ending non-con challenges?

We are not this year required to play a P5 team in our non-con. So why did we?

Baylor pounded NWState and will likely pound Rice and SMU and if they go undefeated in the Big 12 will be in the conversation for the National Championship. We will not, because we lost to a middling Stanford riding the rails of a magical season last year because we were not ready because we cannot recruit like Stanford.

If Baylor is on the table for a National Championship this season I am going to go on a rampage.

Jerome Tang Coaches Kansas State Basketball / Richard Myers

#BREAKING: General Richard Myers has been named the interim president of Kansas State University.

I thought Al Bohl set the standard for Athletic Director incompetence with his "crush me like a dove" presser in his driveway.

But John Currie topped that without uttering a word.

When Jack Hartman ran KState basketball, we were equal with KU. The two programs were about even. They threw hot dogs. We threw bananas. Then came Larry Brown/Roy Williams vs. Tom Asbury/Jim Wooldridge. A dark time for KSU basketball.

We were lost, for a long time, until Tim Weiser stepped up and hired Bob Huggins who took Jack Hartman student Brad Underwood under his tutelage.

Huggs went home after year 1 but left us Frank Martin, who kept Underwood on the staff. It proved to be a valued team. When Frank's offense suffered, Brad stepped up and fixed it.  KState saw consistent NCAA tournaments and an Elite 8.

Then came Currie.

Frank soon departed for more supportive environs, Brad underwing, and Currie hired oscar Weber, who was just fired from Illinois. Can't tell you why.

Underwood moved from South Carolina to Texas, finally a chance to run his own program. That program went to 4 straight conference championships and multiple NCAA tourney berths which was unprecedented for the program.

After a close loss in 2016 to nationally ranked Notre Dame, Underwood finds himself so close, but so far away to the program that his mentor, Jack, prepared him long ago to lead.

Would that call come?

It would not.

A call did come. It was from rival Big 12 school, and Jack Hartman's alma mater, Oklahoma State.  They were interested in hiring Jack Hartman's pupil.

Kansas State and their AD John Currie never made a call, not even to inquire about interest.

go kstate

Mack makes less than half what oscar does. He would always LOVE the exposure in the Big 12 - Ohio recruiting! Let's get it done!

Jerome Tang Coaches Kansas State Basketball / our only chance
« on: February 04, 2016, 12:17:04 AM »
"...our only chance here is to really defend well and make them earn baskets. I think we did that."

oscar quote post game. We did what our coach said represented our ONLY chance to win.  HE SAID WE DID!

So why did we lose?

Jerome Tang Coaches Kansas State Basketball / Wow! THIS is Butthurt...
« on: January 28, 2016, 06:22:54 PM »
With the HOF ceremony this weekend it occurred to me that Frank Martin should be deserving of such an honor. When checking for his coaching stats at KState, I went to the coaching history page on the kstatesports.com site and found this...

http://www.kstatesports.com/page/tradition-mbb-coaches

Not even mentioned!

Remember when Huggins left and the decision was made to retain Frank and EVERYBODY in the local media and at the other regional schools ripped us for standing behind Frank?

Frank Martin has the highest win percentage of EVERY KState basketball coach except for Tex, and he's only 0.004 behind him.  4 NCAA's in 5 years and NO 1st round exits.  I get that Frank will never get the recognition as long as Currie steers the clown wagon but to completely leave him off the university athletics website?!?!

THAT's butthurt!

The New Joe Montgomery Birther Pit / 13 Hours
« on: January 17, 2016, 11:14:07 PM »
Saw this movie today.

Obama should be impeached and removed from office over this. What we did to our people in this makes me embarrassed that Watergate was ever an issue. Hillary Clinton should be frog marched into Federal Pound Me In The Ass Prison (Yes, the men's one).

Unbelievable!

Jerome Tang Coaches Kansas State Basketball / Are there 5 Wins?
« on: December 22, 2015, 11:23:41 PM »
Assuming we beat a hapless St. Louis, oscar needs 5 wins to equal last year's record. If he does not win more than 15 games, his "trajectory," should not sustain being retained, using Currie's logic in firing Patterson.

So where are the 5?

West Virginia L, Huggs has a good squad
at Texas L, Shaka
at Oklahoma L, no justification
Texas Tech    L, Red Raiders are good, surprisingly
Iowa State   L, no justification
at Baylor L, at Baylor is why
OK State W, first league win.
at West Virginia L, lose to Huggs at home, we will lose on the road
Ole Miss L, they're good for an SEC team
at Kansas (can't bring myself to even type the L)
Oklahoma L, paper bags appear at Bramlage
Baylor W, Currie suspends paper bag wearers
at OK State L, on the road
at TCU W, first road win
Kansas (still can't)
Texas L, Shaka has them ballin'
at Iowa State L, pffffttt
TCU W, too little too late
at Texas Tech L, a prayer for a 5th win is denied on the road.

So, Currie is asked in the season ending presser about "trajectory" and he responds....?

I'm curious...

How many of you have parents that bore you (this means you were born of their copulation) that are still married?

I'm not conducting a study...just curious...

Essentially Flyertalk / Profiling
« on: June 29, 2015, 11:05:50 PM »
Always wondered why people in the media go verkhlempt over the notion of the police profiling in trying to catch the bad guy yet marketing weasels do it every darn day, focusing their efforts where the demographic under scrutiny will more voraciously consume the dogfud they are peddling; be it fried chicken and abortion clinics in predominantly African American neighborhoods, Audi and BMW in predominantly affluent white neighborhoods, and McDonald's and Arby's sprayed over every middle class neighborhood from coast to coast.

What gives?

Kansas State Football / Why Play This Game?
« on: September 19, 2014, 12:53:27 AM »
We play a top 10 team in the non-con, we risk (greatly) a national championship-killing loss.

Why play anyone in the non-con? Isn't the conference tough enough?

Haven't we learned?
