We're pissed because we enjoy rooting for a winner, and it doesn't hurt if the face of the program is likable. oscar Weber is the most unlikable dickface on planet earth, and he lost a crap ton this year. Sports is a "What have you done for me lately?" industry. On top of that, the administration has further shown their commitment to disparaging student athletes, who have almost no options to protect their reputation in the arena of public perception. Then the AD sends out a letter that purposefully obfuscates the cause of this situation, and then tells us that we really shouldn't even be upset because this is actually fairly common in college basketball, which is a complete fabrication. To sum things up, being associated with successful groups gives people a feeling of safety and satisfaction. The basketball program and athletic department in general are not a successful organization right now. Our moral sensibilities are offended when those that can't defend themselves are exploited for the self preservation of the "elite". We don't enjoy being lied to. Nothing deteriorates a relationship quicker than deception. Humans wouldn't have made it to the top of the food chain if a healthy distaste for being mislead was not hardwired into our DNA.
