sys bonus thing or something:  I think it's like 7,500-12K points to jump around within Europe.  So, if you do that a lot you can do it a lot for free.

So did I screw up by not enrolling in the exec club before signing up for the card?

pretty sure (95%) that i read that chase will assign you a BA number that comes w/ the card if you didn't enter one in when you applied for the card. i think it may even be on the card. i wouldn't worry. call chase after you get the card if it doesn't look like this is the case.

Yes, you still have to pay the fuel surcharges and taxes to fly BA which can get damn expensive.  But, if you fly AA, you pay a $5 booking fee.

can you get the ba ec miles, and then when it's all done with, somehow have them transferred to an aa account

I don't think you can transfer the BA direct to AA (at least not without paying a huge fee or losing a ton of miles).  Here is a cool tool to see how many BA miles it costs to fly places.  Put in your location/dollar, euro, etc./what class you want to fly at the top and it shows how many BA miles it costs to fly somewhere:

And, here's another one for flying on BA partner airlines (including AA)

I misspoke earlier when I said it was 30k to fly RT domestic with AA.  It's only 25k.  So, you basically get 4 RT tickets within the US for paying $75 and spending $2k on the card.

yeah, saw that.  definitely something to keep in mind, though all things being equal i think i'd do better saving the ba miles for intercontinental flights and using budget eurolines for intraeuro travel.

Does "purchases" include balance transfers?

Hmmm, I have no idea.  Good question.

Another thing that is kind of nancy neg. about the BA miles flying with AA is that you have to book pretty far out in advance to fly to popular places.  I think AA only allows 10 coach seats per flight or something for BA miles people on popular routes.  So, last minute travel can be a problem if you want to use BA points to fly AA depending on where you are going.

Another thing I would do if I was signing up for this account now is print a copy of the sign up page for your records.  A few people on flyertalk have said that they may reneg on the deal and only offer the traditional 30k as the link is kind of a work around to get the old deal.  That way you have proof that you signed up on a page saying that you would be getting 50k for your first purchase and an additional 50k after spending 2k.

So, print this page off and just hold onto it just in case.  You should get an e-mail from Chase in about a week confirming your new account and the mileage bonus you will get at which time you can trash the printed copy.

Possibly good news for using BA miles on AA trans atlantics going forward thus avoiding the BA surcharges?

One and it sucks. Guide me Fellas.

Sign up for all of these:
American Airlines Citi Visa
American Airlines Business Visa
Starwood Amex
Starwood Business Amex
Delta Amex
Delta Business Amex

Use them each once and then cancel all of them except for the Starwood Amex.  Use the Starwood Amex for every purchase you make and pay it off in full each month so you don't pay any interest.  In a year call them and tell them you will cancel unless they waive the annual fee.  Here is a database on what you get and what you have to spend along with links to each:  http://bit.ly/frugal-database  You will end up with a free American Airlines fligh, free Delta flight and anywhere from 2-6 nights at a starwood hotel depending on where you are going.

How often can you churn these?

I'm around 10 or so CCs, but haven't really gotten started on the mileage game.  I was originally using them for BT offers back during the days of capped BT fees when it was easy to BT the money to savings accounts.

I just got a notice the one of my old Citi cards was instituting a $60/year annual fee.  That card will be getting canceled shortly, so I'll probably start adding mileage cards.

Here's the FW Link http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/finance/837472/?start=0 to the dollar coin thread.  Never got in on it, but looks like it might be dead/extremely difficult at this point:

Those are all once a year now.  I think the AA ones were the only ones that could be churned at more than that but they recently cracked down.  You used to be ablet o churn them every 3 months which I wish I was in on earlier.  But, with just this list you will get 2-3 flights a year and and anywhere from 1-5 hotel nights depending on the level of the starwood hotel you want to stay at.  Nothing like the current BA offer though.

Couple other q's --

How closely do they check the business apps?  My primary gas card is an Amex Platinum Business that gives 3% back on all gas purchases.   :driving:  Back when I got it I signed up w/ my name as the business + no business income.  Does this still fly?

Is there a good cash-back website to sign up through?  Back during the glory days of open credit for all, you could get $40-$75 for signing up through an affiliate plus whatever bonus the card was giving you.

Don't know of any cash back things you speak of.  They don't check the business name at all.  Just make one up like you said.

If you are on twitter and do the miles stuff a lot you should follow this on twitter:

http://twitter.com/BoardingArea

It's a bunch of different miles and travel bloggers combined into one network.  When any of them updates their blog you get a twit linking to them.  It's pretty convenient.
