I have tens of thousands of dollars into my dogs.  I'm willing to spend $100 on a CO detector that can turn off my furnace so that I don't come home to very very sleepy puppies.  I can see how it's not worth it for people that don't have pets.

THAT is a good feature, I didn't see where it did that.   Link?

Works with your Nest Thermostat.
If Nest Protect’s carbon monoxide alarm goes off, your Nest Thermostat automatically turns off your gas furnace—a possible source of poisonous carbon monoxide leaks. In addition, the Nest Protect activity sensors improve the Auto-Away feature of your Nest Thermostat.

Since it will be conforming to UL2034, your dogs will be very sleepy before you get the alarm.

My bro in law bought a Sonic ice machine for their house.  If you can swing the expense, they are awesome.

Nope. I'm quite correct. I've been an opponent of UL2034 for some time.

In order to comply, it can not alert below 70ppm.

Not sure what you're trying to get at here, but the detector should alert before his dogs are dead if we go by these numbers.

And to the person asking about shelf life its because its a CO detector.

70ppm is not lethal dumbass.  Most people won't even exhibit symptoms at that level.  Perhaps I should have told you I'm a world class athlete with pecs that can dance and dogs that can run to the moon and back.
