Chili peppers, that ONE EXCEPTION to the "all things spicy are acids" rule

#LIFEHACK:
Acids are spicy/sour
Bases(aka alkaline iykwim) are bitter

YWIA
what about coffee
I would guess the bitterness comes from the caffeine, which is a methylxanthine alkaloid

ok but the liquid known as coffee is acidic and tastes bitter.  :dunno:

Mocat my dude, there are few hard and fast absolutes, there’s almost always an exception to the rule or some weird quirk technicality. Pumpkins are berries. Water is technically lava. I’d bet dollars to donuts that the “acids are sour/spicy and bases are bitter” maxim will get you there +95% of the time

in this case, arguably the most famous and prevalent "spicy" food chemical (Capsaaicin) is not acidic. It's technically a base but its pH is not what influences the sensation of spice.

Excursion day! Pretty low key/lame group. I was one of the only ones drinking. I was enjoying chatting/hanging with the two captains while everyone else was hanging with kids. I’m a pretty low key drinker and most people won’t know if I’ve had 18 or 7 drinks. (Internet merchants absolutely know).

Had a pretty great day and on our way off, Lil SF gave an elite fist bump and here’s our tip “explosion” to the captain which made him and I laugh our balls off. He planned it all himself
which was pretty great. Got off the boat and met up with Mrs SF. You know how I said most people don’t know how drunk I am?  Mrs SF knows every time!!  She was laughing at me and we then went to dinner and later to a bar. I spilled my martini on me and she finally got a bit mad at me but to my defense I told her how drunk I’ve been all day and she knew it so it was basically her fault.

My grandpa killed a dog that bit me when I was a toddler. More accurately it kind of mauled me and I have scars on my face from it. I don't care to dive into the details of Noem's case (or debate how my grandpa managed his dog) but I don't think farmers killing dogs is quite as uncommon as the reaction makes it seem.

What is Lombardi

When you read the indictment it has such a familiar theme . . .

Makes you think
Makes you think about what?

The FIVE edits to this made me chuckle

Reynolds and Jackman are pissed about DEI so they refused to do 5 interviews with Behar.

Seems like a normal reaction rather than a right wing fever dream.

Googling this links me to the same video over and over from some rando that's in the OP. MSM doesn't want you to know about DEI, Reynolds, and Behar!

I liked the idea that since the only source they could find is the same as the op, it's clearly a cover up by the MSM
“You think THAT sounds ridiculous, well guess what, even more ridiculous is I can’t find any legitimate sources to back it up. What are they hiding?”

Literally no one is reporting this!!
I had to Google it and the texags thread was the first result after the source youtube links

It's also wild how seriously seamlessly you could substitute "black people" for "DEI" and not change the meaning at all

When you drop the team name, you're referring to a city/club which is singular

Yeah, I addressed that and called it "slavish devotion to grade school grammar." Conceptually, it makes more sense (IMO) to treat subjects as singular or plural based on a more erudite perspective. I'll stick to the supposed "rules" of American English for professional purposes, but I do believe the English have the better of the argument as it relates to subject-verb agreement. What is the difference between "Kansas City is ..." versus "the Chiefs are ..." when referring to what a 54-man roster are doing?

A roster is singular, plus it sounds better to say "roster is"

Sit at the gate for 30 minutes because of some fuel paperwork issue (according to the pilot), taxi out and in line to take off, Oops now we need more fuel and have to return to the gate. It is now one hour past departure time and we haven't even got back to the gate yet.
I bet if it was in Europe you'd be compensated for the inconvenience

Shifting subjects ...

Defense. Offense. If a defensive player is defending, an offensive player is ... offending?

I think technically that is correct. One of the few language quirks the brits get right is usually referring to offense as "attackers". I think it's cleaner for grammatical parallelism:

Defenders vs. attackers
Defend vs. attack
on the defense vs. on the attack

etc.

defense vs. offense really only works as an action when it's "on the defensive vs. on the offensive" - "defending vs. offending" doesn't work like you said.

Kinda crazy to think the day Ronald Reagan was first elected president, nobody had a sandwich on ciabatta bread
When I read that, my first thought was "that's crazy" and my second thought was "do I really know what ciabatta bread is?"

It's wild when someone can be the executive of a 20+ million person state and pass stupid laws that can impact the lives of all those people and still genuinely believe they are not part of the "global elite".
