I will schedule a Paul Blart: Mall Cop movie-thon to condition myself into accepting our role as the lovable losers.

It would absolutely kill Bill if a new coach came in and was more successful than him. His ego couldn't handle it.

He's trying to bury the program enough that it is complete crap while he enjoys his last few years of his life and the signing sessions at a ridiculously stupid rough ridin' museum for him.

Buy him out, commit a ton of rough ridin' money to a new/exciting coach (BV :crossfingers:) on something like a 6-8 year deal and tell him he has 2-4 to completely rebuild Bill's disaster, and then 2-4 on top of the rebuild to judge improvement.

I think it's our only hope to be decent before the next round of realignment kicks off.

I'm honestly not sad, it's kind of exciting. What will make me sad is if Bill is still our shitty ass coach November 25.

Football is dying anyway we are just on the bleeding edge
The impending death of American Football makes me numb to all of this.

i am not sure what kind of a fairytale ending people have dreamt up, but ending badly is how it was always going to go......his teams have been operating/playing in razor-thin margins for several years......this is nothing more than the law of averages for this kind of a talent base.

i am much more worried that we have hired the wrong AD for the kind of hire we need here at the Kansas State University Football program.

can't blame too snyder too much for going rogue - power corrupts thing and the losers allowing this to happen. hope he can do the right thing.

he's really a pretty good coach who was elite because of being innovative with recruiting jucos and a fancy offense. plus he got the logos and unis upgraded. if he had the same mindset he has now back then, didn't try and get talent, nobody would care about LHC Bill Snyder. coaching up players only works if the player was actually overlooked or has raw talent, the best you can do with actual scrubs is make them a mediocre starter. he forgot to innovate. he's old tech now, kind of like the iphone.

Tuck take:
Snyder built a program at K-State that has difficulty in attracting national talent.  His system is based upon recruiting overlooked players that fit well in his offensive and defensive schemes, but are good athletes.  Fitting coaching to players skills, who work with dedication, overcome talent deficits--putting the most players in a position with a chance to succeed and contribute to team success is the core of the philosophy put in place by LHCBS.

What it means:
I believe it.  If we bring in another Ron Prince, that theory will once again be validated.  If we bring in a member of Snyder's coaching tree, we have a chance to preserve the philosophy, but maybe get access to pools of talent our current coaching staff can't reach.

So, is that completely tuck?

when you start looking at possible replacements the first question you have to ask is: are they stupid enough to take the job? then you review the shitty resumes of the people that are stupid enough.

Snyder is washed.  Which is ok, but I hope he calls it quits this year.  We'll be fine moving forward if we hire someone competent -- which I believe we will.

I'm not saying a great hire.  I'm saying hiring someone competent (i.e. not sean).

IMO the following constraint will be put on any possible coaching search:

* Coached or played under LHC Bill Snyder

Including this limitation (among others) I think the possible candidates are then only:

Jim Leavitt
Brent Venebles
Sean Snyder
Bert Bielma
Dana Dimel
Chuck Long
Mike Stoops
Mike Ekeler
Bob Stoops (but c'mon that's not happening)

(I might be missing someone...)

Lots of people wanted Andre Coleman based on his preseason video

I assume there is 0% KSU will hire someone like Coleman.  We already "tried that".
