McDaniel never played in second.
Figured the tackle of the 260 tightend with his head might've hurt.
Or the blocked punt with his head.

Did Dakory come back in?

Did Dakory come back in?
I don't believe so.

Sounds like a high ankle sprain for Johnson. Hope not, he wouldn't be eligible for a medical RS
Lockett's hamstring was giving him problems in the second half

great. back to the Will Davis and Jonathan Truman "Who can get to the ball carrier the slowest" show.
-
I have no idea why Lockett was returning kicks in second half (or even playing for that matter).
Hamstrings take forever. Lockett should sit against Tech; would give him three weeks to try to get 100% before ou. If we can't beat Tech without Lockett, we aren't going to win league anyway. No way we can beat OU without healthy Lockett.
I'm glad we sat Burns yesterday.
I really hope Danzel is ok.
Hopeful that Johnson can return for ou.

He walked off the field with putting weight on it. Don't think it was that bad.

He walked to the locker room just fine.

Paging Mr. Derricott.
-
It's time for Derricott and clinkscales to rough ridin' step up. Really need their depth.
-
My guy (Dakorey) is just fine. Saw him walking on it in the second half, but I assume they wanted to hold him out as a precaution.
-
if clinkscales was even slightly good then he would play a lot more than he does
-

He didn't seem too impressive yesterday when he was in. Think Geary is better.

Yup. Which makes me real sad. :Crybaby:

I think Davis is out for the year or something. Maybe I'm confusing him with someone else.

Davis played yesterday and was just as slow as usual. Did he get hurt too?
-
if clinkscales was even slightly good then he would play a lot more than he does
You would think so but Dakorey is clearly our best (currently playing) linebacker and he didn't get to start until the third game of his second year.

Confusing with Moore.

I am sure that Clink is way better than "slightly good." He is adjusting, and most likely arrived out-of-shape and not expecting the difficulty of transitioning to the big-time. Also, I think we have some really good d-tackles. Britz is obviously a stud. Coleman had played OK. To me, Gerry looks like an absolute monster. And, I think Hood has been good when he has gotten the chance.
I guess since Clink played yesterday that he will not be redshirting.
I could've swore I saw Derricot standing on the sidelines without his pad (looked like he was in camo-type KSU hat). Looks like a redshirt for him. Our d is going to be dirty next year.
-
My guy (Dakorey) is just fine. Saw him walking on it in the second half, but I assume they wanted to hold him out as a precaution.
This is great news :crossfingers:
-
Clink was backpedaling his matchup during his first drive. Second drive he was getting double teamed. The talent is there.

Do I need to remind everybody that Origami Rose is MY GUY! ?

Thanks for the info. I didn't even realize Clink was in until someone, maybe you, posted that he was in. I hope he turns out to be a monster after more reps.
Our D has been very impressive with Jakorey, Green, and Danzel the Destroyed.

100% red shirting

our D is decent this year but we'll struggle against the teams that can throw deep. if we can get some d-backs we're going to be awesome on D next year.

prewett will be a stud cre who I fell in love with looks very meh and it hurts
-
Clink will be fine. I bet he gets deeper into the rotation as the year progresses, and once he is in the system for a full year with our S&C, and he learns the system, he'll start with Britz next year.

Cre won't really play a lot of meaningful minutes for another 1.5 years, so there's time. He's still a RS-FR.

If our defense is going to be mob worthy next year...then who will be our QB?...oh, and we lose Lockett. So, how many Kody Cooks(?) and Curry Sextons can Snyder coach up...?
-

Honestly, my heart says we'll actually play Delton, but my head says we'll play Huebner.

I imagine we will go after a juco qb. Hopefully we can convince a good one to come here. Delton will be a disaster.
-
If they don't think Delton can play next year they better get a juco guy this year. If Hubener (Huebner?) is our qb next year it won't matter how good our defense is. He'll make us long for Allan Webb.
-
I'm a little concerned about QB but we'll be ok....
This is where Snyder excels. He's putting our 2015 roster together between 9pm and 12pm...while Kliff Kingsbury sleeps. Its all a part of getting a little better everyday.
-
If there is a juco QB worth having we won't be able to get him (or her). The only reason we got waters was because Iowa st didn't want him.

We take flood-aggie rejects and turn them into winners. More proof that LHC Bill Snyder is without a doubt, the best coach in the history of all times.

I sniff the JUCO stats site every now and again. There's nothing really catching my eye.
I guess the Laird kid is a wild card. Some of the HUDL video on him from HS and his two JUCO games was pretty impressive.
I'd love to bring in another JUCO kid, but at this point, I think we'll have five QB's on the roster next year:
JR: Huebner
SO: Ertz
SO: Laird
RS-FR: Davidson
FR: Delton
If this is the case, and they're all scholarship guys (I think Davidson got one...), I'm guessing Snyder is going to roll the dice on finding a guy between Huebner, Ertz, and Laird and assume that their knowledge of the system is going to negate any gain a JUCO guy can provide, unless there's an athlete out there we can't turn down.
I'm not saying that I agree with that, but Snyder is easier to predict than a train schedule, so I'm guessing that's what's going to happen.

Missing our top 2 corners for Tech is potentially concerning even with Mahomes at QB.

mueller is going to tee off on their tackles this weekend. he's going to have a field day. going forward, his nickname will forever be ryan field day mueller.
4 sacks, 1 forced fumble

Huebner is probably second string because Ertz or Laird haven't earned it yet. Not because he is better. Just Bill being Bill. Laird is interesting because of his potential fit. James Summers is a wildcard.

question for clams here:
clams, does your analysis of the TTU vs Field Day Ryan Mueller matchup leave any room for a fumble recovery touchdown return in Field Day Ryan's stat line?

heard they're welcome to him coming back to the team at briggs auto, detailing cars.. not so sure the cats football team has open arms.

not this week, i just don't see it. i've read and re-read my Field Day dossier and it just doesn't appear to be in the cards against TTech.

Any news on the guys below? Has anyone seen them walking around campus or heard anything about their status?
Dakorey Johnson - Possible ankle injury?
Danzel - Possible Sketti Brains?
Morgan Burns - Hamstring?
TLBL - Recurring hamstring strain?

Burns had a groin pull.....much better injury to have than hamstring. I have no insider info, but I imagine Burns is back this weekend, and for sure by OU.

Clinks was moving his guy inches. Geary was moving his guy yards on almost every play.
Here's to hoping that Clinks turns out good. But gd Geary is a stud right now. Freshman. Walk on. Awesome.

Yup my bad usually he labels them 1st half and 2nd half or whatever.

I want to believe the Clinks hype but I re-watched the game last night and I saw no evidence of him destroying lineman.

He looked very average.
But some defensive end I had never heard of--Godinet--looked great in garbage time. I was sad to read that he was a senior. Was hoping he was a freshman.

So I went back and watched the play with Green. He didn't get hit on his knee. Instead, it appeared that he tried to cut and then his right knee kindof froze up. Not to be alarmist, but it looked a lot like the play on which Tre Walker blew out his knee. There was no contact or anything that would have caused something like a bruise.

Yea, I heard that too. It will be really sad if he is out for the rest of the year. It would be a big blow.

Why not let him heal up completely before TCU if we don't need him? Ankles are weird.

If K-State goes out and plays its game, hopefully we can put Joe Hubener in early in the 2nd half. It would be nice if we could have that bye after this week to allow Jake to heal, but it may serve us just as well having to go to Morgantown the week after TCU.

I hope it's his ac joint and not a labrum tear. The ac joint will heal okay over time and be tolerable. Labrum tear could get much worse.
-
Guys he didn't look that bad. A couple holding penalties away from having a pretty nice game.
Sent using Tapatalk Elite on iPhone 6

Benefit of a Labrum tear is it doesn't affect what you can do, it just hurts like a bitch. Since it's his senior year, the selfish part of me says suck it up, take a shot and go. It also takes forever to recover from surgery. Of course he has trainers so hopefully not as long as with a normal person.

yeah, the bomb to lockett that was called back was one of the finer throws of his career. looked like there was pain at times depending on the angel of the throw.
-
I didn't think it bothered him throwing much, but he didn't want to take any hits. I don't blame him, but that changes our running game alot.
-
Maybe that's a good sign then, because with a torn labrum a full, over the top throw feels like getting stabbed in the shoulder. Depending on the tear, side arm and 3/4 throws you may not feel anything.
-
Dakorey? Will Davis won't cut it for the good teams.

this. there's this weird idea that if you're a QB, you're "tough" if, like, guys tackle you or something and you don't have to get carted off the field. jake is a football player who plays QB and gets hit some times when he runs the ball.
-
What makes people think Jake Waters isn't tough?
Yeah, I don't get this either. Maybe you can say he's no tougher than most football players, but he's not soft.
I'm good with playing risk averse against Texas and Oklahoma State. We don't need to rely on Jake to beat either of those teams.
In conference play, OSU has been worse on offense than Texas. Other than lighting up Tech, which everyone has done, they averaged less than 5 yards per play against Kansas, Iowa State, and TCU. And they're nowhere near as good as Texas on defense. In conference, they're in the bottom half in both yards per rush and yards per attempt. Also, in conference play, they're 8th in turnover margin (-5), while we're 1st (+7).
We're going to be extremely conservative again next week, and my guess is that we're not going to see much of Jake running like this week. He had been averaging about 13-14 carries a game, and yesterday, he rushed 5 times and was sacked twice. My guess is that's about the same ballpark figure. They have about the same sack rate at Texas, so I'm expecting Jake to get put on his back 2-3 times.
I'm thinking next week is more like 34-10 or something like that when it's all said and done. Jake ends up with about 250 total yards, 240(ish) in the air and a net 10 yards on the ground.
