"I was a little surprised he didn't touch on (his future plans)," Self said. "But he's excited about next year. I think he thought that this would just be a day to talk about X. And things can always change. But he's certainly excited about what's going on with our program.
Kid rough ridin' announces for the draft, and Bill is caught up with bitching about how Xavier didn't pimp "the program." JFC Bill. Christ, the quote is from the Lawrence Journal World....just imagine how bad it was before the massaged it. :opcat:

-
what an ass.
-
uk - nothing but the
Biggest and Best in Coaching... well, the best anyway.
-
Seff would love nothing more than to see these kids play 4 years and tear their ACL to win the National Championship game for him so he can toss them away like old rags.
-
He's talking about CJ Henry, guys.
From the exact same article:

When asked while seated at a table with Xavier and KU coach Bill Self, Xavier's brother, C.J., declined to talk about his future plans at KU.
After the news conference, however, Self indicated that he believed C.J. would return for his sophomore season.
"I was a little surprised he didn't touch on (his future plans)," Self said. "But he's excited about next year. I think he thought that this would just be a day to talk about X. And things can always change. But he's certainly excited about what's going on with our program.
"We've talked a lot. He's out there busting his butt, trying to get 100-percent healthy and get his rhythm so we can see where he stands. It's hard for him right now to see exactly where he stands in relationship to everybody else because we haven't seem him be 100-percent healthy over an extended period of time. He's a talent, I've said all along. He's a talent. He just needs to have a good spring and good summer to get back healthy and to get his rhythm back."
-
The fact that Seff fells the need to act "surprised" that the other Henry didn't blather on and on about next year still tells us a lot about how much affirmation and validation Seff must require.

yeah. pete just mistyped. meant one, said the other. doesn't change the fact that self seems like a horrible human being.
"look at me. talk about me. worship me..." - bill self
-
yeah, i'm gonna have to side with Pete on this one. Sorry Beams...

So CJ should be all about the program and not be happy for his brother? It was X's day, Self is just being a huge ass. What else is new?
Self will send him packing before the beginning of the next season. Really a sad way to run a program.
-
OH YEAH? Well ku has more NC than KSU and one less than Dook over 50 yrs and that means that ku is gooder, so there. And, and, and bill self is the greatest coach he knows.
-
I also met Bill Self at Final Four and I was definitely not impressed with him. He seemed a little arrogant to me.
^ A professional writer at the Final Four.

I met him at a high school basketball game and he was actually pretty gracious and respectful to everyone. No cockiness or arrogance from what I saw. I would have expected that considering the fact that he was sitting next to Billy Donnovan and two other D1 college coaches from Iowa who I care to not name at this point.

Saw him at the KSU baseball game in Lowrents last yr, he refused to autograph some kids' stuff. He's pretty much focused on just doing what's best for him.
-
Saw Self at a Walmart shopping for an AC Delco battery for his boat. When a little kid walked by him to get to the fishing section to buy a fishing pole with snoopy on it (the bobber is woodstock) Self shoved him up against the AC Delco brand batteries and told him never to walk between him and what he's focused on. We're talking about a kid who's about 7 years old here. Self then pissed his pants and yelled at a WalMart employee to come clean it up while he ate some Doritos he didn't even pay for.

that's a funny (made up) story and all but on a serious note, how in the world does selff's wife put up with all of his drinking and carousing? do they have an "open" relationship? it's times like this that i really appreciate coach martin and his down to earth wife, family and christian values. :twocents:

There’s a rumor on the Internet that Self has decided to remove freshman guard Elijah Johnson from the basketball team, possibly for disciplinary reasons.

Sorry bros, guess I missed the first sentence of that article. I guess I just assumed that they're had to be some sort of financial incentive for a washed-up minor league baseball player to want to remain on KU's roster next season.

It's good that CJ's coming back since Teabag chose fball -- interesting tho that no tears where shed by the white guys leaving early, hmmmm.

pretty obvious it's better to walk-on for the Hawks than get paid to play for the stripes...you guys just don't get it.

Rumblings that CJ/Carl/X have spent all that signing bonus.....and then quite a bit more on top of that.

I bet Self went all the way to Oklahoma to register his boat so he wouldn't have to pay taxes on it. What an bad person.

Best confirmed sighting of Seff's toupee line that I've ever seen. Good job ednksu.

Apparently Bill said today in the weekly Big XII teleconference that he thinks the graduate transfer rule is stupid, and those kids should also have to sit out a year. It's apparently not enough to swindle kids out of good money in the NBA, just so he can exploit them for the betterment of KU, now he wants hardworking kids with degrees to delay their wage-earning years so that he and his rich white cronies can lord their wealth and status over these kids for even longer. What an absolute monster.
P.S. Also said that post play is still too rough in the Big XII...ever heard of Joel Embiid, Bill?
-

This isn't the first time Self has made this remark. It's not a shot at Fred. It's a knock against the glorified free agency that the rule creates. Self is also against the current OAD rules. He thinks kids should either go straight to the NBA or stay 2/3 years. His personal opinions don't preclude him from operating in the environment that currently exists, though. Not hypocritical.
-

...said the tough, but caring, slave master as he reluctantly whipped the slave. And, the Nazi gas chamber operator, and the U.S. Army quartermaster delivering pox ridden blankets to the Indians, etc.

Why should you have to choose between the NBA and 2/3 years of college?
Seems like you should be able to go pro whenever the eff you want. Of course Bill's statements are completely self serving, I don't get why phogtards believe he is being altruistic.

I agree with you. However, the professional organization these young scholars want to join - which operates as a virtual monopoly - disagrees.

Yael!

They backed into the title when we won, I don't blame Bad Bill one bit
-
Cities like Lexington, Columbus, Durham don't get into the negative writing about their local basketball programs....
they should be kissing Self's and Kansas basketballs ass like no tomorrow
-
Pretty crazy the way they keep using Embiid injuries as excuses for losses but forcing Joel back out there.
-
"Worst. Column. Ever.
I for one love this move by HCBS. It is called setting higher expectations and not settling for the bare minimum. For them to celebrate after backing their way to a Big12 title would have been bush-league - something K-State would have done. Don't be such a pansy"

The fact that they don't understand how this whole "best record" thing works sadly doesn't surprise me.

Self and KU fans are monsters. Perry Ellis doesn't deserve this criticism. 19 pts and 5 Reb...yet getting attacked by his fans. KU wouldn't even be in that game without Perry.
-
KU's program is a monster. A monster than feeds off the souls, hopes, and dreams of young men. Lets just hope Cliff can rise above despite the hanger ons and those that mean him harm.
-
Rustin Dodd did a nice job of trashing Cliff Alexander's skills and Bukaty cleaned up trashing his work ethic. Pretty solid take down this morning.

Poor Perry.

Per ESPN:
Kansas isn’t going to change all that much from this season to next. With Selden and Cliff Alexander no longer projected as lottery picks or even first-round picks, both could return to Lawrence.
Self keeps on crushing
-
Do the KU fans ever give Self credit for destroying the dreams of OADers? Seems they overlook this part of his coaching ability.
Gonna win 'em all!

Related, why was perry playing in the conference tournament when he was obviously still injured? Those games were less than meaningless for ku

I appreciate that Cliff brought his talents to the state of Kansas and we could watch a kid play his heart out every night, even if it was for an opposing team. Best of luck with your professional basketball future Cliff.

The wait had lasted deep into the night. Two hours, then three. One round, then into the second half of another. By the time 11 p.m. rolled around, NBA teams had drafted the following players: Arturas Gudaitis, Marcus Eriksson, Satnam Singh Bhamara and Cady Lalanne.
But no Cliff Alexander. The former top-five recruit in the high school class of 2014 went undrafted.

This guy needs a mentor. I nominate Beaz.

Alexander since he did the hat crap on Illinois fan, he has thought he was big time crap. He made a mistake going to KU and trusting his momma who thought of him as cash register. Beaz as a mentor is not a bad idea as he has had to eat humble pie. A year of kung-fu ball in China with Yao might help.

self got all he needed out of poor Jo-Jo and its gonna ruin the rest of his career :frown:

Taylor arrested
Former KU combo guard Tyshawn Taylor was arrested on Aug. 6 for allegedly using a counterfeit money order to obtain $1,000 in cash at “Big Banner Food Store” in his hometown of Hoboken, New Jersey, the New York Daily News reports.
Taylor, 25, was released on bond after turning himself into police. The Daily News said the store owners have known Taylor and his family members for years.
“When we went to deposit the order (on May 18), they said it was fake,” store manager Luisiana Jimenez told The Daily News. “When we told him about it, he said, ‘Yeah, I’m going to come to pay it back.’ We called him several times, and he never paid it back. We even contacted his mother in Florida, and she said she would handle it and that she would talk to him, and nothing. All this stuff with police, and still he won’t pay.”
Jimenez’s father, Luis, has owned the store since 1987. The Daily News says there is a pending court date.
“My dad gave him many chances because he grew up in this store,” Jimenez told the Daily News. “My dad has been here 27 years and has always helped his family when they needed food, when they were short. He always made sure they had something. If it was anybody else, he would have filed the complaint the next day, but he tried to give him as many chances as he could. It’s not only the money. It’s the way he’s been so ungrateful about the whole situation. That’s what hurts the most. He just doesn’t want to pay, and he’s been very arrogant about it.”
Taylor was a second-round draft pick of the Nets in 2012. On Friday, Taylor, who has had no comment on the matter, wrote some statements on Twitter that may or may not have been about this situation.
“You jus gotta let the ppl think what they want...everything isn’t worth being addressed,” he Tweeted. “Ain’t in the business of explaining myself....FACTS.”
Taylor played pro ball in Puerto Rico and Russia last season. He recently told cityofbasketballlove.com that he’s exploring opportunities to play pro ball in France or Turkey this season.
“It’s tough, especially when you go straight to the NBA and then you have to drop down,” Taylor told the website. “To travel around a little bit, it’s a little bit frustrating, it’s a little tough. I’m hoping if I go overseas and have a pretty good season like I’m expecting to, I think that it’ll be good.
“I’m just gonna keep at it,” he added. “I think that’s the hardest part about it, is just scratching and clawing and trying to fight for what you think you deserve. As far as me being in the NBA, I feel like I should be there. I think that’s the motivation for me, is to try to get back to where I think I belong.”
So sad. Another ex-player finds his life in shambles in a post-Bill Self world.

Yeah, I'm definitely not of the "Jayhawk nation", can't really grasp this level of stupid idol worship:
For those outside of Jayhawk nation, this would be like a Catholic hearing from the Pope or an American meeting the President.

Heard from a good friend he only tips 15%.

That's a lot in a rube town like Lawrence. I remember when I tipped 20% at the old Tellers and they insisted I had overpaid and looked at the tip like it was a spaceship

He probably just tells those poor innocent girls that he is praying on that he only puts in the tip. And as far as Tyshawn turnover arrest, he probably thought it would just be taken care of like it was in college.

Zing!

Selden should have got out after his freshman year. Very sad that Self let him fall from a sure lottery pick to undrafted. :frown:
It's a wonder that KU is able to recruit anyone over schools like UK, Duke, etc that turn out high draft picks when Self takes diamonds and turns them into turds.
Best of luck to Diallo. He saw the writing on the wall and cashed in at the right time.
-
Poor guy. Was going to be a millionaire. Now, he is going to have to scrap and bite just to be a thousandaire. The KU story, I guess. Sad.

How many is that the last few years? Alexander and Seldon come to mind that didn't even get drafted. :frown:

Another tale of Self ruining players. Is a sad story. He still thinks they will be on a roster. He is probably right (A European roster). In better news, Baker was picked up by the Knicks as UDFA.
-
VanVleet to the Raptors. Now more Shockers have been picked up with NBA teams than Jayhawks.

http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/17693334/kansas-jayhawks-staffer-makes-half-court-shot-win-10000-student
For the second straight year, Kansas staffer Brennan Bechard cost Bill Self $10,000.
Bechard, the Jayhawks' director of basketball operations, made a half-court shot during Saturday's Late Night in the Phog to earn Kansas sophomore Jordan Stiers $10,000 from the Jayhawks coach.
Two students were randomly chosen to either take the half-court shot themselves or select someone else to shoot it. Last year, Bechard made the shot for student Jerrod Castro.
Next year, Brownback will take a halfcourt shot and if makes it, Self will pay taxes.

Obligatory "Did the car go 'round in circles while crashing" joke.
Also, Billy Preston's facial features seem too crammed together compared to the overall size of his head.

Bosnia, man he wanted rid of Self bad.

“The first couple of practices after getting back is kind of review, get back in shape and you still, by NCAA rules, have to give them off a day a week, even during the break time, which I don’t understand,” Self explained.

Dok update
With the Jayhawks enjoying an off day Sunday, Self said Monday that he had not seen KU junior Udoka Azubuike since his 20-minute return from an ankle injury that kept him out of five games before last Saturday.
And according to Self, that was good news because the KU coach saw all he needed from the 7-foot center against Eastern Michigan to know he’s OK.
“I went recruiting Saturday night, and I haven’t talked to him,” Self said. “So I’m not going to approach like there’s anything wrong at all. He played. He looked like he was close to 100 percent. This is 48 hours later, so why wouldn’t he be even better? I’m not going to ask him how he’s doing. He may say, ‘Not very well.’”

where's the thread of ku players being huge pieces of crap? wiggins elbows nerlens noel across the face, causing him to hit the ground with his head and stretchered out. then he calls dennis schroder gay to the media. disgusting behavior, no doubt self was a bad influence on him.

He had the choice of saying Gassnola was a booster and getting his plays eligible or not declaring that and kicking Silvio to the curb. Guess which one he picked
