i mean, no doubt he was/is an absolute creep and pervert, who has no business working with children, or women for that matter. What i can't get a read on is whether he did anything that rises to the level of criminality. Like, having children perform thinly veiled sex acts is absolutely gross and should probably put him on a watchlist, but i'm not sure if having someone squirt some goo on Jamie Lynn Spears' face is quite criminal. I think if he was touching or showing i'm sure victims would have come forward by now like they did w/ those other guys. I wouldn't be surprised if he is soon accused of something criminal, but it just seems like he doesn't really have any leverage to keep them quiet so i don't know why his victims wouldn't have said something by now.

It's a fine line... Definitely easy to get information overload to a point where you're just twisting yourself in knots. I admire how bubba Watson has purportedly never taken a formal lesson, but he's also an exceptional talent. If you don't fully understand the mechanics it can be very valuable to have someone who does say "hey quit moving your head around so much" or w/e and like bam game changer that just fixed a bunch of your issues

Kind of adorable story but my mother in law (royals fan) didn't watch the games but I guess gets a certain type of headline in her news feed and this morning was (totally serious not trolling) inquiring because she saw my (Mets) shortstop had broken both of his ankles in yesterday's game and I would have been more  :dubious: about it but winning cures a lot of ills so haha

It is of no concern that it is 100% a fact that there have been years I have paid more in taxes than these billionaires (when they were prominent billionaires), no what's important is the syntax. Excellent job not missing the point at all, and rather zeroing in and again, so matter-of-factly addressing my mental faculties.

Ironically, the longer i let this bounce around in my brain, the closer I get to clinical insanity.

10
Ya know what I owe sys an apology. I was imprecise in my wording. They all take turns on the years they pay $0 in Federal income tax (or even claim a refund like Bez) and haven't all paid $0 in the same year. You are correct I am completely insane. Totally off base. Out of my rough ridin' gourd. So there i stand corrected and humbly apologize.

I will submit this for consideration... 1948 Cleveland Indians (their last WS championship) and 1948 Cleveland Browns (AAFC champions).  They both shared Municipal Stadium.

Like I, me personally, I paid more in taxes than Jeff bezos, Elon musk, and Bill Gates combined.

what an insane thing to believe.

When you have a moment to take a break from your perpetual boot licking, you should consider reading the Panama papers.

But please, explain to me in what way the ultrawealthy come even remotely close to paying their fair share

what constitutes someone's fair share is subjective, but what you've paid in taxes is not, and it is objectively funny that your understanding of the world is so inaccurate that you could genuinely entertain the possibility that the sum you've paid in taxes is greater than the sum bezos, musk and gates have paid in taxes.

What's not subjective is that you are a miserable deeply unlikeable person, and the fact that you and I are diametrically opposed on virtually every topic imaginable gives me great comfort that I must be doing something right in this life

Known stud Tom is technically correct, as both of those championships were won in the calendar year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and seventy nine. But that was the '78 football season.

But as I re-read mocats query, he did say which year, not which season.

oof guys i need to culpa my mea...just yesterday learned a (new to me) acronym and i was so excited to run to this blog and tell everyone, but i'm not a total dummy, and i typed it into the ol' search bar first. Turns out, there was a blogger on this very webbed site using this acro as a username back around 2010. So. just learning an acronym that's been around for no less than 14 years. I still intend to dust it off and get a ton of mileage out of it. that acronym? DILLIGAF.

Since its been around for so long i won't type out what it stands for, but i am (unashamedly) enjoying the crap out of it rn. (2024)

Do I look like I give a eff?

bingo

Precision is needed in professional environments like law or research and totally understandable. Everyday common speech though? Get over yourself imho.  ;)
I have a similar peeve for people who correct something grammar/usage wise despite knowing exactly what you meant, which is really the whole point of language if you think about it.

The best example of this are people who insist that you cannot end a sentence with a preposition (which often makes sentences more convoluted) while simultaneously refusing to use the Oxford comma.

fun news, the Grammar Police have recently issued a ruling that it's actually fine to end a sentence in a preposition. I guess the whole "no ending a sentence in a prepo" comes from latin-based languages, which english is not, so like, its actually fine. Wish they would have issued that ruling when i was in high school and having to write lots of papers.

Which means it was never a rule. That also doesn’t stop a lot of people going around trying to impose the made up crap they learned in 7th grade English class like they’re that Japanese soldier who kept fighting WWII for 30 years after it was over.

take it to the dan carlin hardcore history thread

a couple of additional thoughts on this:
I keep my grammar elitism to myself, mostly. Like if you say "I am not one to XYZ", I can assure you that I am not wont to give you the ol' WELL ACTUALLY!
I think around the time it was codified that "literally" can mean either "literally" or "figuratively" i was like "ya know what? this whole language thing...its completely made up. we just made it up. i'm not going to get mad"

here's the scenario i'm currently allowing to run on repeat in my head:

UK: hey Scott Drew wanna coach here?
Drew: no
also Drew: (under his breath) You guys don't have the weird religious culture that i crave. honestly...baylor isn't weird-religion-y enough for me...

If that would've had more spelling and grammatical errors I would've thought fanning wrote it.

"dewshy" immediately put me into wackycollie08 mode  :D
