My dad's office does pools for all the majors. An order is picked it is a snake draft you get 4 players who can win, I ended up with Lefty, Fowler, Snedeker, and McDowell.

I trained at Fort Gordon, GA in the Summer of 1973...Augusta was only a few miles away...the soldiers called it Disgusta...
Maybe it's changed in all these years but it was a grungy little town back in the day, still remember the horrible smell from the pulp mill.
-
I wish Rex Hudler did the play by play (?) for the Masters. He could really bring somethin' to the table if you ask me.

Amen Corner is fine. Some SI writer in the 50s named it that in an article and it stuck. He got it from a popular jazz song.

the whole tournament or whatever is the most overrated thing in sports. (and possibly everything).
-
Not much interest other than the fact that I put $100 each on Keegan Bradley (22/1), Matt Kuchar (30/1) and Hunter Mahan (40/1).
-
Pretty happy to see Guan shoot a 73, that's amazing. Top amateur as an 8th grader.

I love when certain golfers wear a certain color on Sundays to let you know they mean "business". Tiger wears red. The Oklahoma State dude wears orange.

meh, don't really care. Tiger really made a brand out of wearing red on Sunday but besides that I don't really find it that cool.

Have no problem with his playing skill, mannerisms, or anything else to do with his game, really. Just don't think flat bills and puma should be allowed in golf. Looks like a punk :cyclist:

Weird post. I'm not a flat biller myself, but I don't mind the youngsters wearing them. Fowler is one of my favorite golfers, his biggest problem is he doesn't win very much.

Shouldn't be too much though. There is a weird line of storms through the entire southeast US, but it looks like it will rain quickly and be done with.

That's probably right, I didn't notice. I'm sure ESPN puts the clamps on that.
I hope the kid makes the cut also.

Oh well

Looks like Tiger won't be the featured group
Oh well
I already told you that sir. Don't worry though ESPN will be live somewhere around hole 4 or 5 for him so we will get to see plenty of the 2013 Masters and 2013 Open Champion
-
There will be plenty of Tiger on the ESPN coverage, which is a good thing.
Fortunately we have Dustin Johnson in one of the feature groups, so its all good. He is one of the few on the PGA tour who is really an elite athlete.
-
They gave the 14 year old a 1 stroke penalty for slow play? rough ridin' assholes. And, given it's Augusta, rough ridin' racists.
-
Looks like you'll be able to watch the last hour of Tiger's round as a featured group, but, like _FAN said, you might as well watch ESPN at that point.
Masters.com will stream two Featured Group channels during Friday's second round of the Masters Tournament. These live channels will broadcast two select groupings beginning on No. 10 on all Tournament round days. Additional groupings will be shown after the earlier scheduled groupings complete play.
Featured Group No. 1 Lineup:
8:34 a.m.: Louis Oosthuizen, Mark Wilson, Graeme McDowell
12:36 p.m.*: Kyle Stanley, Jason Day, Bill Haas
1:42 p.m.*: Tiger Woods, Miguel Angel Jimenez, Sang-Moon Bae
-

Ridiculous for the officials to make him the "example". Tons of those guys play slow. Its annoying.

@Graeme_McDowell 10m
What message are we trying to send out to the world giving the 14 yr old kid a shot penalty today? It was a 6 hr round. Why single him out?
I really want to punch the rough ridin' masters in the face

Do the Yankees play today? You know, in case Tiger gets DQ'd.

lol, summoned to the course. he gone.

-
2 shot penalty. went lenient on the american cash cow. :jerk:
Blueblood
They would have killed CBS had they kicked him out.
-
Tiger should have been DQ'd but then the masters would suck.
-
They based it off a new rule that was put in place because people kept calling in after watching tournaments on HD tvs when viewers noticed rules violations that players didn't notice. As a result, players were DQed after signing wrong scorecards. This rule gives tournaments discretion to assess penalties in those cases. They used it here, even though Tiger said exactly what he did and it wasn't because someone called in. Good for CBS and the Masters though.
-
We've never penalized someone for playing slow but this 14 year old chinaman is pretty uppity so let's make an example of him. OH NO! TIGER NEEDS OUR HELP! USE THAT NEW LENIENCY RULE THAT WASN'T MADE FOR THIS PURPOSE! USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA!

Never would have happened with boss New Zealander Steve Williams on the bag.
that's true. did you see Bones back Phil off his shot and then Phil put it in the water? lol
-
Well that was an interesting start to the morning. Will LOL so hard if Tiger wins and can't wait to see all the Tiger fan boys argue with people who will claim he should of DQ'd (which he should of IMO)
-
They actually kill the 14 year old if he does the drop thing wrong.
-

He won't win.
-
To be fair, the group with the 14 year old was 2 holes behind the group in front of them, so he was really slow and he was warned 3 times. But I still think the penalty was excessive.
-
They actually kill the 14 year old if he does the drop thing wrong.

And Tiger goes to Twitter to explain. @TigerWoods
Twitter is great.
-
lol, what did Tiger do? I saw some butthurt on facebook.
-
lol, what did Tiger do? I saw some butthurt on facebook.
THREE chicks at the same time. Not DQ'd.
-
Why doesn't the pga have a rules official with every group. Golf will never grow if they keep doing stupid crap like this.
-
Why doesn't the pga have a rules official with every group. Golf will never grow if they keep doing stupid crap like this.
Players police themselves, but there are rules officials all over. Tiger could've easily found one and asked if he wasn't sure, but rules officials only are used with questions from players, they aren't there to call penalties.
-
I know but once the next shot is hit it should be over. If you can get called in for breaking rules by some dickweed watching on his hd tv, there should be a rules official with every group. This isn't the early 1900's.
-
lol, what did Tiger do? I saw some butthurt on facebook.
-
everything was fine until tiger said he went back 2 yards in the interview. Dug his own hole. Masters had no choice at that point.
Faldo, duval, etc are stupid for saying he should DQ himself.

Yeah, if he had never mentioned the 2 yards, none of this would even be a discussion today. Plus, the fact he did mention it shows he didn't completely understand the rule, which makes the penalty (and not a DQ) a good decision.
-
oh, not understanding the rules is a good excuse now? This isn't your grandfather's whites only no women allowed golf I guess.
-
oh, not understanding the rules is a good excuse now?
In the case of rule 33-7, I think so. The purpose of the rule is to allow tournaments to not DQ players automatically if it's clear a player didn't cheat or intentionally break a rule.
Yeah, this probably didn't help golf a lot, and neither did the slow play penalty. But most well get over it.
-
I would get a 2 stroke penalty every hole then but never get DQ'd because I don't know crap about the rules
-
I love golf's bullshit rules and etiquitte. It's all hilarious.
-
By rules, I mean rule following.
-

If Tiger Woods isn't expected to know the rules better than some pud watching TV at home, then whats the point of putting players in charge of policing themselves?
-
Fully agree that golf has ridiculous rules.

Have you seen the rules of golf? Some pud didn't know either, he heard what tiger said, thumbed through the book and then snitched. Bubba Watson had a great point; how do these snitches know who and where to call? Do they just repeatedly call numbers until they finally find someone who will care and listen?

My point is that if they police themselves there has to be strict penalties and golfers have to be accountable with ignorance not being an excuse. If the penalty afterwards isn't much harsher than the one they missed, then there is no reason for them not to try and get away with it. Its the Masters and most people playing get millions of dollars a year to play golf. They don't need to understand the rulebook perfectly, but they should understand it well enough to know when to talk to a rules official. If the people policing themselves are incapable, then rules officials will have to make calls on the course (really don't want that to happen).
Regardless, pud on the couch shouldn't be involved in the situation.
-
I made homemade pimento sandwiches tonight
-
We should be talking about what a dumb rule it is in the first place.
First off, if you hit the flag you should be able to drop on the other side of the water. The flag should be a silver lining in the stroke penalty ordeal. Secondly, you can't drop it further from the hole? Wtf? Since when was being further away an advantage.
Just really but hurt, you guys. Stupid rule, even dumber that people are calling for tiger to DQ
-

Being further away can be an advantage if it takes an obstacle out of play/gives you a better angle/etc.

He hit his first shot and it hit the flag pretty high up. It was probably about two yards long of perfect. So he backs up two yards on pupose makes the same swing with the same club and the ball stops pin high. How can you not see that is an advantage?
Being further away can be an advantage if it takes an obstacle out of play/gives you a better angle/etc.
