Kansas State Football / Re: KSU vs. Auburn What the Hell was that?!!?

If K-State goes undefeated in Big 12 play (which would include beating highly ranked OU and Baylor squads) I think they'll get an invite to the Playoff.

Everyone talks about how a 1-loss SEC team should get in.  Well, having 1 loss to an SEC team is pretty much the same thing, right?

The way I see it the loss last night probably wasn't much different from a close win. K-State showed it could hang with anyone and probably always needed to go undefeated in Big12 play to land in the playoffs.

Just need to stopf-ing up at every chance we get.

We're not broke, we just charge appearance fees for when we would normally never be seen in public with said other team.  Could really hurt our street cred :(

Yes, Auburn charges "appearance fees" for non-conference games just like Savannah State, Steven F. Austin, and Incarnate Word do...

LOCKETT AND LOADED

K-State shows its depth in a 41-28 thumping of #5 Auburn and solidifies its spot as a playoff contender.

LOL. a team that lost to 4-8 West Virginia and a team that was handled by Missouri (a team Auburn defeated by 17) was better than Auburn? Okay. And Baylor? LOL. Please... they gave up more than half a hundred to Central Florida, a team that was beaten (at home, no less) by an SEC team that didn't even reach the SEC title game. Baylor is fine when they go up against bad teams. They score 70 routinely. But they are pretty mediocre when they go up against top flight competition, or teams with just really good athletes. Oklahoma embarrassed them. Even Texas beat them.

I guess you can make the argument that Oklahoma was better than Auburn, but I guess I missed their BCS National Championship game apperance.

Interesting that you call Oklahoma State "that team that was handled by Missouri" (which you know is a lie ) instead of "that team that barely lost to #1 Florida State (who defeated Auburn) due to a late QB fumble."

Repeat to yourself: college football does not follow the transitive property.

Itt fans of other big 12 schools can post about how much they admire Kstate for carrying the Big 12 banner high and battling the SEC champs on national television this week.  Please post your words of support below.

I know jayhawk fans are wabashing (farmhumping) their asses off for us but I want to hear from cyclone, horn, mountaineer, poke, sooner, bear, raider and toad fans also.  Sec fans cheer for their backwards hillbilly conference mates harder then they cheer for their own team so let's try a little of that!

Go!

If this happens, would it be the first time in history a fanbase has purposely emulated SEC fans?  I mean, like, in a non-mocking way?

no idea where to put this, but the okie state game from '11 is on espn classic right now

i don't think there's a k-state loss i enjoy watching more

Best part was when Klein was upset with himself at the end and he temporarily let down his self restraint, hitting the ground so hard it caused that earthquake.

Edit:

Was this the earthquake game?
Yes, that was the game.

Probably Currie's best decision during his tenure here. Sucks that the demand wasn't there though

Sounds like they want to encourage the students to attend Thursday class and complete their homework assignments for Friday.  Hopefully they stop with the half-measures and just deny admission to students altogether.

It's not like anyone at this university cares that much about football anyway.

Has anyone heard anything as of late on Derricott and Clink? or even riddle for that matter? just curious if we should suspect to see them next week against auburn.

So obvious this is just Gus Malzahn's sock.  What a lazy way to scout the other team, Gus.

I assume roughly half their team is serving out jail sentences accumulated at various points this year so they can all make the trip to MHK.

Kansas State Football / Is it Time for K-State to Stop Scheduling Cupcakes?
« on: September 09, 2014, 04:11:57 PM »
We all know K-State has a reputation for playing a pretty weak non-conference schedule, and I understand LHCBS's point of view on the matter.  But with the new Playoff Committee deciding who gets a shot at the National Championship, I think it is time we started scheduling some decent teams in the FBS to really boost our resume.

NDSU last year was a start, but I feel like our non-conference schedule has taken a step back since then.  This year we have Steven F. Austin, Auburn, and UTEP.  Do you think the committee will give two craps about a team with those victories on its resume?  What's worse, how bad would it look if we actually lost to a team like Auburn?  I'm not saying that would ever happen, mind you, but Thursday night games have been known for some pretty monumental upsets.

Do you guys think there is any way we can beef up the schedule in the upcoming years?  I don't care if we have to pay cancellation fees.  We can afford it for the sake of keeping a stellar national profile.

on the rewatch, it is really fun thinking back on my emotions when isu scored their 4th straight TD.

One of my favorite moments (even stood out to me at the time) is at about 43:15 of the video.  ISU had just scored on the gimmick play and the camera focuses on a K-State player (not sure who) on the sideline who is very obviously thinking: "That is the last f-ing time these guys will score on us."

No way the Big12 refs let that happen.  None of it.

I am told it will be an SEC crew officiating the game...
ppppppppfffffffffffffffffffttttttttttttttttt

No worries, they'll still favor the bluebloods. Not some flash-in-the-pan team that's only good during the seasons they can cobble together enough money to buy a good player.

When asked his early impression of K-State’s next opponent, No. 5 Auburn, Snyder chuckled and replied:

“Tremendously talented football team. Physical football team, fast football team, athletic football team, execute well, coached well, one of the best teams in the country. What else you want?”

  I've always been a fan of Snyder's sarcasm, but this takes it to a whole new level.  Notice he couldn't even say it with a straight face.

Kansas State athletic director John Currie says the school's September 18th against Auburn could be the largest crowd in school history according to a report by the Wichita Eagle.

“This will likely be our greatest attended game ever. We actually have not sold standing room-only tickets, because we know our student section will be as full as it has ever been that night. Student attendance is highest on weekdays.”

K-State head coach LHC LHC LHC LHC Bill Snyder has never been a fan of playing marquee out of conference games and there was speculation that the Wildcats would back out of the game.

“Some people thought we wouldn’t play the game, but we never hesitated,” Currie said. “Our fans tell me all the time how much fun they had going to Auburn (a 23-13 loss in 2007). It would have been tough not to play that game here. It’s too good an opportunity for our football program and our university.”

Don't know why Currie always says this...

BTW - I have 15 tickets to the Auburn game.  Front Row, 50-yard line.  I was excited about going, but it turns out they moved my weekly scrapbooking night from Wednesday to Thursday that week.  Asking $5 for all tickets OBO.  Thx.

SWEET! Will you accept PayPal?

Needs to be cash.  I don't do any online financial transactions with southerners...not anymore.

AU_Tiger, you're missing it here.  I'll explain it to you like I did sak and hopefully you'll understand.

goEMAW dot com forward slash forums is the nest.  It is a tiny piece of Toomer's Drugs* in the internet, in your dome.  Here, K-Staters love to throw acronymns at you constantly and rave about how they haven't lost a game, in college football, since they were founded in the late 1800s. that same year Lincoln took all our slaves away and pretty much destroyed our flimsy excuse for an army/government.

Feel the warmth, come and snuggle with the prestige.

War Damn Eagle!  Class of 2000, Industrial Design!  Smith Hall > Wallace whatever or something Hall

*and by Toomer's Drugs, I really mean a mix of The Supper Club and, if you're old enough to remember (and a person or two on here does) Harry's.

Made some minor edits for accuracy.

A few notes on the state of Alabama's B team and the SEC as a whole:

Chizik: Was an awful coach at a bottom feeder Big 12 school.  Goes to Auburn and destroys the SEC.  Auburn: taking ISU's leftovers and still able to beat a conference because it is terrible.

Tuberville: Coaches at Auburn for like 20 years and can't hack it in the Big 12.  He won an SEC title (maybe more?) and couldn't break 7 wins in the Big 12.

SEC DPOY Sams - Best defensive player in the conference barely gets drafted and gets sent to a practice squad.  Auburn's offense puts up points because their best defensive player in the whole conference can't even make an NFL roster

This game is going to be similar to when we beat Miami a couple of years ago.  KSU by 28+

These are all completely objective verifiable facts, and I do not think there is room to debate that this will be the best team Auburn has ever faced.

But don't forget, they've had this game circled on their calendar for years.  Based on the level of competition in the SEC, I expect Auburn spent about 50% of its practice time prepping for the K-State game every week last year while they coasted through that division A&M has been exposing ever since they arrived.  Taking this into account, a 14-point Cats victory may be more realistic.

Help me, I can never remember. Is Alabama the state with the little boot-heel thingy on the southwest side or is that Mississippi?

That would be Alabama.  It's called Mobile and we're currently taking antibiotics to get rid of it.  We're hoping that it will clear up shortly.

Is this some kind of a racist, ethnic-cleansing-themed remark?  Disgusting.

I think the best part about the whole thing was how leading up to the war the southerners were all absolutely convinced they were going to win despite being totally outmatched.  Completely delusional.
