This thread was a good read.

From what I gather the argument for KSU getting better and possibly even turning things around this season is two-fold:

1 - We beat Oklahoma State.
2 - We're young, so we can only get better.

JFC. Oklahoma State is not a good basketball team. Young players don't necessarily get any better. The rough ridin' third grade logic that serves to prop up oscar is alarming. A lot of Cats fans would've made good Nazis.

Those Nazi's always were an optimistic bunch.

Nazi 1- "Hey, you think Hitler is really going to be our guy to wipe out all the Jews? He really kind of botched that whole Russia thing."

Nazi 2- "Definitely. We've had some down years, but he's still young. He just needs more time."

KSU fans are just the worst.

I'm pretty sure all programs have fans like this, we just know our own.

Doesn't mean we need to just accept it. I can't fathom how so called "fans" can be willing to support a loser program.

Whenever I watch a Cats game I make sure to turn off my TV whenever we are behind because I will not support a loser. Whenever I go to a live event I make sure to bring the other team's jersey to put on in case they start winning just to let our team know they can't take my support for granted. Every donation I make to the school I put a strict limitation in it that the funds cannot be dispersed until the Cats win a Football or Bball Natty.

Why do I do these things? BECAUSE I'M A GOOD FAN!

I'm a big fan of what Currie has accomplished financially, but the names that are on (and not on) this list makes it seem more like a function of how a school keeps its books. Did tOSU really get fewer donations than KU?

Also, why would a private school bother disclosing that info? Or does that have to be made public?

We are 1/3 through the Big 12 schedule...

Note: K-State currently leads the league in FT% defense.

Is FT% defense an actual stat? I thought the point of free throws was that there was no defense involved (LFT%IQ).

:)

Insightful. That makes it seem like good FT% defense indicates a well coached team, though.

It's starting to look like there is a steep drop off in the Big 12 after #1-5 and KSU is fighting for #6 right now.

I actually think we are normally much more boring to watch than we were this year.  This season had a lot of games go down to the wire (many with quite a bit of scoring too). We just happened to lose most of them, and it was a down year in the Big 12 so most people didn't care.

Kinda hard to complain about talent when you have a 1-2 round draft pick QB and WR on the field together.

Snyder left Freeman for Prince?  How nice.

That comment was only in response to the issue of 2006 talent. You could say Jordy wasn't really recruited by Snyder either.

You'd have to crunch a lot of data to prove or disprove this, but for all but the uber blue chip programs, won't ratings always correlate with a team's record? Bad record > crappy tv slot > bad ratings.

We are such lovable losers.

Not in the KC area, so maybe that has to do with it. I guess I only think of Ferguson and the walkout when I think of Mizzou and forget they have an FB program.

You must not follow college sports then, Mizzou has done pretty good in the best conference in the country since they moved.

I seem to remember them trying to spoil Auburn's NCG hopes one season. Have they done anything else?

Would be curious to see which coordinator will retire. Offensive or Defensive....

It's defensive. Also it's Levitt. Pay attention to context.

15247
I totally forget Missouri used to be in the Big 12. It is by far the hardest former member to recall.

How morbid is #6? Good grief that's depressing.

Why is 10 teams a disadvantage?

Its not. I think Boren looks at it from the angle of what he sees as media perception of the Big 12 and his own fanbases hatred of the conference.

Alright. For pete's sake give let's just give OU some 2:30 kick offs so they shut up for a while.

I have pretty low conference re-alignment IQ.. but will someone tell me why the Big 12 does not proactively go back to egotistical schools like NU and A&M, and show them estimated numbers of what conference revenue plus what their own tier 3 network would bring in? Wouldn't it be considerably more than what they're getting from their conference payouts now, so they'd eat that crap up?

I have low-med realignment IQ, but pretty sure Big 10 is the most lucrative conference per member. Big 12 is up there, but all these conferences have fairly long term tv deals that expire at various times, so it is tough to really compare equally. When SEC renews, there is a chance their per school revenue could come pretty close to Big 12 even though they have more members.

I think T3 rights are overrated for many schools too. If you have a fanbase who cares a ton about sports other than football, it MIGHT be a factor in a school's alignment preferences, but I think it's probably a ways down the list.
