In the end Currie knew his gamble to run off Frank would be a winning proposition due to the collective stupidity of our fan base...

my take as a businessman who has met Currie Reply
My impression was not good. I came away thinking what an arrogant little man. I wasn't selling him anything nor asking anything of him but was introduced by a friend who is a very affluent donor to the program as someone that Currie should get to know. Currie was dismissive of my friends suggestion which of course was no skin of my nose because I am not wild about "free work" but for the Cats I was willing to consider it. However, when a donor introduces someone you at least play the game and his full of himself side was sadly on full display. I cannot imagine working for such a person. Just one meeting and not enough to say with absolute certainty that it was his normal personna but a bit troubling given the way this thing with Frank has played out.

I met him twice and exactly the opposite take. I walked away both times just thrilled that the guy was representing KSU.

An employee at Dick's asked Currie to see his ID when he used a credit card (company policy). He asked, "Are you kidding? Don't you know who I am?" When she told him she was required to ask everyone for their ID, he rolled his eyes. Class A jerk.

Met him once, very pleasant to talk to, seemed to really listen before moving on to work the room. The guy will come through. He worked his butt off when the big 12 was imploding. Give him a chance.

I am friends with his old boss Doug Dickey at Tennessee and I have had the opportunity to meet and spend some time with Currie talking K-State. He is far from arrogant. He is decidedly organized, focused, and he has high expectations of staff and coaches. Much like someone else we all know and love.

Sat behind him at a bball game. He picked up all the trash his kids had scattered. Really liked him until the last couple of weeks.

Re: my take as a businessman who has met Currie Reply
John is a very nice guy who remembers names, businesses, and events.
Let's put it this way, a year after I first met him, not only did he walk up to me and ask me how I was doing, he asked how my brother was, how my kids were, etc. All by name.
Now I will say, when he first came on, and he started gutting the athletic department, one of my very good friends was one of them who was canned, and after working up there multiple times before "getting to know" John, I didn't think too highly of him.
After getting to know him a little better, I came to realize that he's a pretty good guy, (wound a little too tight, maybe) and has the university in his best interest.
Professionally, I've dealt with John on many occasions. Personally, I've done that as well. He's a good dude.

To be quite frank (no pun intended), I don't believe you.

I met currie at the rose bowl when cats played ucla, very friendly conversation, upbeat seemed like he is just what kstate needed, and i think has been very good for kstate. If franks relationship has soured with currie its time to sadly move on, frank knows the rules, if his players are going to recieve money, be smart enough not to get caught!!! The kstate nation will suffer for this, hopefully the next coach has a strong identity,,,,, after martin we will need it

Well people of the other political persuasion are not scum that deserve to die a traitor's death - but they are misguided and completely wrong.

I talked to Currie once on the phone, it was about 10 minutes after I'd emailed him a question. I about fell over when I realized he'd called me back. I expected a reply email from a subordinate, not a return call from the mn himself. He was all class.

I've only met him once, but came away very impressed. Like you, my impression is that he's exactly the kind of AD we need and I'm glad he's here.

kinda weird that someone would work at a sporting goods store in Manhattan and have no clue who Currie is...that is all I'm saying...

I met him many times and found him friendly and helpful, even for being a small donor he took time to get to know you. I find some of the current characterizations as more spiteful than anything else.

Never met the man, but seems to be 80-90% positive for Currie and the negative comments just sound dumb......and I don't believe the credit card story. Having 80-90% of the people you come across like you on initial impression isn't the easiest thing to do.......even if it's your job to try and do so.

Re: my take as a businessman who has met Currie Reply
What?!?! No politics here just an observation from my meeting with him and if you knew what I did for a living you would understand why it was somewhat amazing to my friend that Currie behaved the way he did. It is obvious that this may not be his normal persona from the posts so I am willing to think he had a bad day BUT in my line of work I deal with a far number of chameleons.
