God, please don't let Brain Ching make the final roster. He is a talent-less douche that is slow and weak. He gives us nothing. His play during the Gold Cup was embarrassing. I can't think if he even scored once. If he did, it was probably luck.

I think "luck" is exactly what this team needs if it wants to succeed.  Welcome Brian Ching.

Jesus, this really is a thread about World Cup soccer.

Warm up the cricket roster next mother fuckers!

Fifteen minutes later, when the Kansas locker room opened its doors to the media, the Jayhawks were still crying. Literally, bawling. All of them. I've never seen anything like it, and I've seen devastated college locker rooms -- after losses in the Final Four, the national championship game -- ever

We will do what we always seem to do. Let the other team hold the ball for 60 minutes and fire shots on our goal and hope we get lucky with a counter.

It's actually almost a valid approach, we have badass goalies.

Howard is overrated imo.   Freidel got mumped over by the powers that be last world cup cycle and decided to retire.  it would be nice to have him as our #1.  would have been reallly nice in 2006 instead of Keller who peaked in 1999

I really don't follow soccer but I love the sport and I'm right there with you. Been jonesin' for the Cup to start since about the time the draw was announced.

final cuts to 23 will be announced today at around 12:20

in the Czech friendly last night the US sat out Confed Cup starters Howard, DeMerit, Bocanegra, Spector, Donovan, Dempsey, Clark, Bradley and reserve Feilhaber

sad to say Ching looked pretty good last night.  i think he booked his ticket to South Africa and could likely get into the starting 11 if a 4-4-2 is implemented.  w/ US Soccer's lack of imagination that is almost a certainty.   Gomez' goal might mean Buddle is the one to be left out up top.  the Galaxy forward looked ok but didn't stand out.  thought he showed a lot better than Eddie Johnson did.  Buddle could be an alternate but won't make the 23.

the back line showed terribly.   didn't like Cherundolo's performance at right back but he might have been the 2nd best behind Goodson whose one gaffe led to a Czech goal.  the combination of Bornstein and Pearce at left fullback was vomit inducing.  if Onyewu can get healthy and fit for a full 90 then we can put Bocanegra out ther.  but Onyewu lumbered around last night like he had no power in his left leg.  his lack of power was evident when a Czech player rose above him easily for header into the net.  Demerit is also questionable w/ lingering effects from a detached retina last fall.  Bocanegra just had surgery for a sports hernia 3 weeks ago.  neither Demerit nor Bocanegra suited up.  they might have been able to play if necessary i think and both should make the roster.

in the midfield Holden was able to get in 90 minutes which was important considering he is recovering from a broken ankle and only recovered in time to make one start for his club team at the end of the season.  he provided good looks on set pieces for the 2 goals.  Torres looked decent.  Edu also looked good in midfield before being tested at center back for the last 1/3rd of the game.  Holden might be the only player from last night's midfield that gets a start in the World Cup.  in my opinion Edu should but Holden would get the nod in a conventional 4-4-2 which seems to be the only formation Bob Bradley has ever heard of.

Pierce better be cut, he was the worst player last night. Johnson and Ching should go too, have Altidore, Gomez, Findley and Buddle. Rodgers and looked promising and Edu was good too. Need players like that to step up if we want to make it to the knock out rounds.

player pool is deep at his position.  that depth includes the best 2 players the U.S. has to offer in Donovan & Dempsey.  he'll definitely be going to Brazil in 2014
