Exact same price (or cheaper) for a bigger house in almost the exact same place?

Buy the neighbor's house, keep yours, and build a covered walk way or something.

i lived in a decent lawrence ks duplex once. three bed, two bath, two car garage. 1800sq feet. it was like 130k. i had the left side. actual houses a block or two away would sell be 2400sq feet but sell for like 260k. i never really got that and always said that if i was still living there and the right side people wanted to sell then i would just buy their half and boom. 3,600 sq feet. six bedrooms, four baths, two full kitchens. thinking about it now i still can't decide if that would have been the dumbest thing in the history of the world or the smartest.

It's not the vacuum part. It's the dust that flies when using one. Centravac puts that in the garage.

IPA4me, go get a Dyson and cross that off your list.
I always figured they were hype. Do you have one?

steve dave, how far away are you wanting to build? what's wrong w/ the current house?

Not very far from where we are now. It's too small.

have you thought about keeping the house, selling some stuff, and spending what you save on baller annual vacations?

yeah, if that had to be the trade off I would definitely stay put. luckily it's not.

Oh man  :D

My cousin lived in a duplex at ATM that was like this but 4 bedrooms IIRC.  It was pretty sweet for parties but they told me one of the kitchens would always be pretty nasty.

There is a guy that bought a really old house(like a 1910 four corner style) down the street from my dad.  It is two stories.  The guy added on a third story.  I can't decide if it looks stupid or awesomely unique.  I mean, is it a house that is too tall and out of proportion, or a squatty fat tower?

Anyway, SD, you should do that.

Adding a story on top of a house built in 1910 sounds expensive

yeah.  They had to build a temporary working platform(like a rough looking deck) all the way around this guy's house.  Then they completely tore off the roof, built the third floor and a new roof.  Took them forever too.  They went like a month without any type of roof at all.

Cool. Thanks. We need a new vacuum. I was going to install Centravac myself.

Have GCCPAkat's wife find you a house.  They just moved to KC and I stayed there last night.  I'd have thought they'd had the place built for themselves with how fitting it was for them.  But all they'd done was find a bunch of spots on the internet, checked into a hotel for a week and looked at them all and found the one they'd basically have built.  Then GCCPAkat more or less pulled a farmageddon tickets maneuver on the guy and moved in.

The area that is ideal for us because of our work commutes is pretty much all new construction anyway. We are in the fringe burbs/corn field zone.
