Title: Ground Meat Question
Post by: _33 on February 07, 2011, 11:35:57 AM
Do you treat ground pork exactly like ground beef?  Do you just cook it the same way or is there a different technique?

I got like 8 lbs of it given to me so I need to make lots of things.  What I really need to know is if I can just make it exactly like ground beef and still have it taste good.  Like, I want to make tacos but I don't know if that would work.

i think 'clams is right.  the only difference in beef and pork is that pork is probably a bit more greasy.  you can still do the same things with it, though.

Just skip the part about grinding up the pork because that's all ready been done.

No, it is very not better. Spanish chorizo is one of the finer sliced meats out there. It's the one asking prosciutto how its @ss tastes.

Someone else made them, I just ate.

But I would make burgers like you normally do, maybe mix in some sage or other great pork related seasonings. Place think green apple slices on top of burger and melt Gorganzola on top.

spanish chorizos, both fresh & cured are some multiple better than mexican chorizos, which really, are pretty nasty, but taste ok with a good salsa (like anything else).

chorizo en sidra is one of the top ten foods in the world.

33, you can probably use some of the ground pork to make a good green chili.

i had it at jose andres' restaurant in LA called the bazaar.  one of the apps was an embutidos platter with spanish chorizo, lomo, and salchichon.  i had never had spanish cured meat before so for me it was different.
