You know how sometimes you can recognize that a girl is super attractive but you just aren't attracted to her? That's Jake Waters in a nutshell.

Jake had the benefit of what many consider one of the greatest college coaches in the history of the game.  Freems had Ron.

I think the best team Jake beat was 300 yards passing against Baylor

Who is the best team Jake has beaten? Is it @ 4 loss OU this year?

Yes, probably so.

Also, this thread was fun: http://goEMAW.com/forum/index.php?topic=31974.0

I'm guessing 25 TDs to 10 INTs, probably better. Waters will probably run less, but average more yards per carry. 65% completions, 3500+ yards, 9ish yards per attempt. I'm not sure why anyone would expect a regression. Snyder's quarterbacks almost always make improvements from their JR to SR seasons and usually very dramatic improvements.

Winning more games and being a legit contender for the Big 12 next year will come down to the play of the defense and special teams. Our offense finished in the Top 15 last year and I expect it to remain at least in the top 20. However, our special teams were less than spectacular (#33) and our defense was mediocre (#43). If those don't improve, then the offense won't matter much.

I overestimated Jake's TDs.

Offense finished #15, defense #60, and special teams #4. Basically our offense and specials teams did their part, but our defense didn't make enough improvement to get us over the top.

It's kind of silly to say Jake was afraid of contact when he willingly took sacks like, all the time.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

I think it is incredible how he stacks up in this regard. The biggest x-factor, I think, is his bond with Lockett and Sexton and his ability to learn under CK. I think he did well with what he was given. It is hard to compare him to CK because CK had Hubert in the backfield.

What he was given? He had the greatest wide receiver in school history. And not that his running back should matter when looking at these stats (a bad running game contributes to these stats, it doesn't detract from them) but Waters had Hubert too for a season.

Great Post, Waters was a top 3 QB in the big 12 and still leaves something to be desired. The one question to ask is if he played with the worst O-Line in Bill 2.0.

He never beat really good teams and almost lost to really bad teams (and then got praised for NOT losing to a HORRIBLE Iowa State team) and actually did lose to a division whatever team. So...no big wins, no titles and a lasting embarrassment.

Under Prince, Waters would have been one of the Allens that left. Under Snyder, Freeman would have been Beasley, at least.
"How will I recruit to Manhattan? Well, distance. And the proud state of basketball. It start there, and then daily flights to Dallas, because I'm really good at going out. Like top five good. Ask my wife. She wants me to be happy."

Lol. Freeman would have never seen the field with Snyder. He would have hated his antics.

God, I feel the same way.  Spent too much energy yelliing for him to get rid of the rough ridin' ball.  Does have amazing completion percentage, thanks to tlbl.

OK, I forgot about Grant Gregory. I may hate him more for selfishly playing and moving Klein to WR when he should have been getting QB reps and delaying Klein's development and costing a national title.

every kid wants to play. you can't blame Gregory for that.

I appreciated Jake's time here, but I am ready to see what Joe Hubener can do. We have already seen that Joe knows deep balls and Joe knows QB draws. I want to see what else Joe knows.

I don't even know why I'm asking you this but you don't think Jake was helped immensely by having Tyler as his number 1 option? I can't imagine what Matt Miller and Brian Cavanaugh would have looked like without Kevin and Tyler is absolutely better than his dad was.

I mean, yeah, he helped, I mean they helped each other a lot! Locketts numbers sky rocketed once Waters was qb.
