Free samples of beer and whiskey.

Otherwise not really, just the Costco business model but with also some Japanese products.

I wonder how big of a seller brisket and other 'que meats are.  I've also wondered if there are any 'que joints in Japan and if not how successful a good one would be.  Could be my retirement plan.....move to Japan and make ribs, brisket, etc.

american bbq joints are very popular in tokyo and suburbs
i spent 6 years living in downtown tokyo while i worked for the swiss government and while the sauces are quite a bit different than what we're used to here in the usa, they do a decent job recreating the american classic that we all know as, "BBQ".

hmmm maybe clams intentionally translated his experience into terminology KC people can understand? Google does immediately  confirm that the swiss embassy is indeed in minato-ku, which contains several of the top 10 downtowns in tokyo.

seems bulletproof. ohayo gozaimasu, clam-san.

there is a new american bbq shop near me started by an american and the brisket tasted like cafeteria roast beef and was served on a bed of white rice with sauce that could only have been watered down honey ketchup

in japan, "BBQ" means cooking on a charcoal grill.

I have walked into "American BBQ" restaurants and it was just a patio full of weber grills where you cooked your own mushrooms and prawns and squid and stuff.
