Title: Chiropractors
Post by: SkinnyBenny on August 28, 2014, 10:01:34 AM
Some lady from a chiropractor's office came in and gave us quick little 10-minute massage/chiropractor adjustment thingy and then a sales pitch. Mushed her pretty hard. Mistake? Seems like they're bs but :dunno:

There are great chiropractors out there, but I wouldn't go to one unless it was personally recommended by someone I trusted.

I think mushing was pretty wrong unless you were armed with facts.

ok, i am not really a believer. I did go to a chiropracter after getting a rib trashed in softball and I was in immobilizing pain and i knew that a real doctor couldnt do crap. I was about to go to on vacation so I wanted to do anything possible to help.

so I went there and he crunched my back a couple times then hooked up electrodes to heal it with the party vibes. I was better in about a week and a half, after 2 visits. I have no idea if this sped up healing or not.

a certain kstate olympic silver medalist was in the waiting room, so i assume this is a reputable chiropracter.

I'm still not really a believer, but traditional medicine is 15 years behind the actual science anyway. Some doctors still have food guide pyramid posters up.

they make their money by asking people to come back over over and over again for continual adjustments. I can't believe insurance pays for all that, but I guess they figure it keeps people out of more expensive traditional medicine.

I've had back pain for about 2 years after an OTJ injury.   Finally after a dozen rehab sessions and other attempts got them to do 6 chiro sessions as a last resort (never believed in chiro).    Really did make me feel better, though I did overdo it cleaning out my grandpa's farm after he died a couple weeks ago and now and very stiff and sore again.    He gave no pressure or insisted on "maintenance" like I know some so.    I'll probably give it another go after we get done cleaning up the farm and see if I can get feeling better again.

Here's what chiropractors do; they crack a bunch of junk all over your body and it does seem to make you feel better for a bit if something was hurting or whatever but then two hours later it hurts again

as much as I was reluctant to do it and admit it, there is more than a pacebo affect in my case.   I had severe pain after sitting in certain positions or standing for short periods.  After doing nothing else but getting chiro, I had serious relief.   I'm talking I'd have to leave the bar after an hour with friends because I couldn't sit on a bar stool any longer.  I also have a torn hip labrum which contributed to poor walking form and certainly didn't help my spinal alignment.

oh, also a few weeks ago our dog did something to his back.  3 vet visits later and 4 meds he was still reluctant to walk, poor guy would be sitting there, yelp and run across the house full speed.   Wouldn't eat, wouldn't move all day long.   My wife's coworker actually informed her there is a dog chiro in town.   $40 and a visit later our dog was almost back to normal.   He's had one follow up visit and still no apparent pain.   The vet had started talking about cat scans and surgery   :bang:

Also, this guy in Wichita:

http://chiroplus.com/

is amazing. I had a shoulder injury in high school that created a pop in my shoulder and prevented me from lifting weights for like 3 months. I went to I think three sessions over two weeks, walked into the last session with the pop, walked out, and it was gone and no problem lifting weights. He fixed a knee pain issue I had, too, once. Best placebo ever.

Yeah. They had us fill out this sheet beforehand listing things that have been bothering us and diarrhea was one of the ones you could've checked. Probably should've checked it knowing that I could hear her talk about how chiropractors can cure diarrhea or whatever.

Hey Skinny Benny chiropractors go to office jobs because everyone's back hurts there because everybody slouches like morons

I had really awful pain in between my shoulder blades for about five years.  On occasion, it would flare up so badly that I couldn't move my head to the left or right.

I reluctantly took the advice of a coworker and started seeing her chiro.  A few weeks later, it was miles better.  Not perfect, but way better.

I've been going regularly for about eight months now, maybe every month or two since the initial stuff around Christmas last year.  It's made a big difference for me, and I know it's worked because I tried stretching, exercises, etc., and the last resort was the chiropractor, and that's what worked.

Now, I will say that this guy is pretty legit.  I guess some Chiefs players go to him and he travels to a lot of seminars as a guest speaker.  So, if you do go to one, definitely go the referral route.

The bent pen is probably what they use to cure diarrhea.
