Apparently this is just a Kansas/Nebraska school lunch thing? Anyone else experienced this phenomenon?

Crispitos were good but occasionally I would get one that just tasted like absolute crap. It would happen like twice a year for me and would temper my excitement for crispito day.

You have to have the right kind of chili tho. I think your version of chili is wrong for this culinary delicacy. Don't use too many tomatoes you want more animal fat and beans than acidy matos IMO.
