Word is that Self is more than a little concerned about the implications of conference re-alignment and the dangers of being affiliated with a school that doesn't have a seat at the "football table." Rick Barnes, among others, are openly lobbying for Bill to take the OU job so that they are guaranteed that he remains "in the conference"...wherever that ends up being.

this isn't bait squawk, this is a real concern for the stability of the only thing KU has. KSU doesn't need them as any more of an albatross if realignment does come.

Selfishly (no pun intended), I'd prefer if he stayed at KU, because I think that the combination of KU and KSU could still be appealing to the Big East. However, if Self leaves, they'd be much less value in the Big East wanting KU, and that could bleed over into us as well.

Hope he stays.

He's from Edmond, Oklahoma. Just 30 minutes North of Norman. Rumor is OU wants a wow name to replace Capel. No better than Bill Self.

I was eating at Johnnie's the other day, and a big name OU guy was there eating a Theta burger, and I overheard him say the word "self" like 11 times.

I'm sure as a head basketball coach Bill Self would jump at the chance to leave that crap basketball school KU to jump at the chance to coach the Sooners. Isn't he an OK-State guy anyway? Just think next year Frank will be in Arkansas and Self will be in Norman.

Wouldn't surprise me one bit. Rumor is another OU boaster (Toby Keith) just loves him some Self. Just plains loves Self. I think he would be willing to write a song about Self to get the money needed to pay for him.

If Toby Keith were to give Bill Self part ownership of Toby Keith's I Love This Bar and Grill, that would surely seal the deal.

This would be a fantastic out for Bill on the Selby deal.

If he leaves now, he can claim to future #1 recruits that Selby couldn't keep himself out of troub and healthy and this is why he flopped as a frosh. If Bill stays, he will have to explain why Selby flops after he is a Soph.

He leaves now, he avoids this and can keep hauling in the big kids without worrying about explaining crap. Just pile it all on Selby and KU.

would definitely be best case scenario for bill imho.

the selby situ could ruin his career if he doesn't handle it correctly.

I'm hearing from a source connected to Ou that they don't want to wait till after the second round for Ku to be done so they can make a Move on Self, so they might go for another target.
