OK boys this could be fun! Just pick the order of the conference and which games you think each team will lose. I really hate when people make projections but they don't say who's going to beat who. "Oh, K-State Tech is going to win four games? Which four?" Just seems so lazy. So be sure to include who is going to win what games. I know it takes some extra work but that makes it way more fun.
When you're done, be sure to note some interesting things about your projection. The following is what I think will happen, but I just happen to feel pretty optimistic about our cats tonight :
1. Oklahoma State 8-1 (@UT)
2. KSU 7-2 (@UT, @OSU)
3/4/5. Oklahoma 6-3 (@BU, @KSU, @OSU)
3/4/5. Texas Christian 6-3 (@OU, @OSU, @KSU)
3/4/5. Baylor 6-3 (@KSU, @OSU, @TCU)
6. Texas 6-3 (vOU, @TCU, @BU)
7. West Virginia 3-6 (@OU, OSU, @BU, @KSU, @TCU, UT)
8. Texas Tech 2-7 (TCU, @OU, OSU, @WVU, KSU, BU, @UT)
9. Iowa State 1-7 (UT, @TT, @BU, OSU, @KSU, TCU, @OU, @WVU)
10. Kansas 0-9
-Oklahoma State will start the season 9-0 and be a legit nat'l champion contender. Until UT derails that trip in Austin.
-OU will start the season 8-0 until they lose 3 out of their last 4. Bob Stoops' britches are getting warm.
-This year's Bedlam game will decide the conference. Much like 2 years ago, us K-State cats fans will be Boomering our collective asses off, but they'll let us down. :frown:
-Total logjam in the middle. UT was a solid team, but not solid enough to get the job done. Unfortunately, playing @Baylor and @TCU is too much for a quality longhorn team. 6th place. So long Mack. :frown:
-Notice all the @s among the losses. This projection has everyone ranked 6 or above holding serve at home. That's pretty crazy, but i'm sticking with it. Homefield is a huge, huge, huge advantage in the big 12 imHo.
-Disappointing seasons for GQ Swagger. "I knew Mike Leach, and you sir are no Mike Leach!"
-KU goes 0'fer again, tying turn of the millenium Baylor for the longest losing streak in the Big 12. Their only shot at winning was WVU at home, and well, what can I say? KU just blew it. Shame. Maybe they'll take out ISU in 2014?
Your turns!

You know what I love about Dr Peppers? The fact that they taste so good I want another. We won't lose to Texas or OSU.
-
You guys need to make your own projections. This isn't another one of those threads where you write "we never lose to texas" and move on. This thread takes work. So buy in or quit.

Fine then, Dr Pepper or bust.

Please do! Take your time. As much time as you need really. Seems that everyone in today's instant-gratification society is so quick to just post it NOW and get on with their lives. I thought about this thread on Sunday night, but didn't post until I had time to give it the attention it deserves.
Anyone can list down ten teams.

It'd be nice to talk about football every once in a while here, but browns gonna brown..

You need incentives. Why should someone take all that time just to appease you, you farknig narcissist? Make it a competition, throw in a prize for the winner, and then let the prophet profit.

beat it, you idiot.

1. TCU (8-1)..@KSU
2. Baylor (7-2) @OSU, @TCU

7. WVU (3-6) @OU, OSU, @BU, @TCU @KSU, UT

9. ISU (1-8) UT, @TT, @BU, OSU, @KSU, TCU, @OU, @WVU
10. KU (0-9)
1. I really think TCU will be far better with Pachall, and a healthy Waylon Jamees (Stud RB who was hurt vs KU).
2. Baylors offense will still be scary as hell with Lache as the full time back and an even more athletic QB than last year. Their defense will be improved.
3. OSU will win their games if JW Walsh is the stud that I think he is..however, they will choke in the bedlam game.
4. We will struggle with the high powered offenses of OSU & Baylor, but will be able to grind teams with our efficient offense and mongoloid line.
5. Texas is still extremely overrated and Mack Brown will retire at the end of the season....even after winning the RRR.
6. Blake Bell will show that he has no rough ridin' idea how to throw a football. Defense will be far more inexperienced than what people thought prior to the season...I could see them folding midseason and playing younger guys.
7./8. WVU and TTech are pretty much the same team for me...except one's coach is a total dreamboat and the other looks like a shady vacuum salesman on crack.
9. The heat starts to get turned up on Paul after a real down season...highlighted by an atrocious defense. They will really miss their pasty LB duo.
10. not really much to say here
-
beat it, you idiot.
:jerk:
was going to do it, but now I'm mos def not.
-
MBP! Who won the TCU/OSU game? TCU i bet, but your records are a little screwy there.
I like TCU, but man, their schedule is pretty brutal. @KSU, @OSU, @OU.
INTERESTING PICK ON THE RRR! I likes it! If that pans out the way you have it, then 2014 has to be do or die for bobby, right?
Aren't you excited to come check back on this thread each week during the conference season?
Ex. Oh man. Did i really have none of the top 6 teams losing a home game? i'm such a moron.
I KNEW iowa state would lose to WVU. :excited:

Sorry, I fixed my original post..i think TCU will still beat OSU. If they have any semblance of an efficient offense to match that athletic defense, i think they will be a force to be reckoned with. I still like us beating them at home though....should be a huge game. I personally believe this will be an extremely tough year for Bobby. If the injury bug hits their o-line again, it could be downright scary for them. I have been counting down the days until kickoff for the past 2 months.

OU is the biggest wildcard here. I could see them losing to us pretty easily or beating us really badly, same can be said about their game against TCU at home.
I think TCU has a decent shot at going undefeated in conference play. I think their early game against LSU will force them to get their crap together, and if they win it they'll be soaring high the rest of the season. LSU will have a lot of new players and TCU will have a lot of returning ones, so it's not that unlikely.
Texas will suck as always.
ISU will be better than WVU and TT but will not be able to beat them on the road.
K-State won't lose any games we aren't supposed to lose, don't care if we have a bunch of new players. We face USC in the Holiday Bowl and get our first bowl win since 2002.

Someone on the radio brought up a good point today. KSU, OSU, and TCU host Baylor and go to Tech. OU and Texas have the reverse and host Tech and go to Baylor. Within the league, Baylor and Lubbock both produce the most random upsets. Every year those places produce a couple of random upsets. Each of those five teams have one game in either Lubbock or Waco. Two of them will probably lose that game and those two games will be the deciding factor in how the top half of the league shapes out. The question is, who do think loses their game in Waco/Lubbock? :dunno:

Well. The thing is. Baylor is going to be pretty damn good this year and Tech isn't. Not to say Tech won't upset some one, but just about every team in the league would probably be <-4 @baylor.

I feel like saying "Well they always upset at LEAST one team at home" is the most backhanded compliment you can give a team. So glad us cat fans are above it all.

6. Baylor 5-4 (L @KSU, @OSU, @TCU, Tx)
7. Tech 3-6 (W vs TCU, ku, ISU)
8. WVU 2-7 (W ku and ISU)
9. ISU 1-8 (only W vs ku)
10. ku 0-9
OU probably wins the conference, but shits the bed on Thursday night @Baylor to ruin any Big 12 shot at MNC. OSU shits the bed against older bro to lose conference in final week. KSU has a favorable schedule which keeps them in the hunt but can't beat the Oklahoma schools. Texas log jam in the middle with TCU, Tx, and Baylor beating up on each other. Tech loses a bunch of close games but looks improved under Kliff. WVU, ISU and ku bring up the rear as usual.
-
My season would be awful for the conference's national perception. I'd enjoy the heck out of it though. The conference desperately needs to go 3-0 against the SEC in the first week. #TSC.

- TCU should have a good QB this year, be it Boykin or Pachall. Their D will again be studs on studs. I'm so excited for the LSU game!
- I think Baylor's D is supposed to be good this year? A massive amount of momentum in that program.
- OSU is going to kick the crap out of some people because they are a big boy program now. We are one of those people.
- OMG the KSU defense is going to look bad in our losses. People will compare 1ys to past white safeties from KS, but it won't be his fault. The offense is going to be good because our septuagenarian head coach will add some wrinkles to the pistol-zone stuff that take advantage of Sams' speed.
- They'll beat OU and that will make 'em happy for awhile, but it will turn out that OU sucks so they will force out Mack.
- OU is going to stink, I hope. I hate them.
- TTU. Man, they need an interesting coach because this is a boring school to think about. Is that how KSU is perceived? I hope not. :sdeek:
- I'm glad we don't have ISU's schedule, they are screwed.
- If WVU is better than this it's because Horsewoman made some awesome changes to the Air Raid. Defenses have adapted and the old offense won't work without the guys that graduated.
- I wonder how bringing in a JUCO guy and naming him the starter through the newspaper affects team morale? It's tuck of me, but I think KU will be bad because the program has no integrity.
-
i don't blame whitlock for making his columns about race. writing about sports is mind-numbing.

Surprise, surprise... all the 'taters have KU going 0-9 again. Won't happen. KU almost won 3 or 4 games last year with nothing at qb.

22 straight conference losses and the perpetually butthurt ku fan in residence is mad that some people didn't pick ku to win a conference game in 2012.

I don't think TCU is going to have a good year. They have the hardest schedule in the big 12 and they are going to already be beat up entering B12 play because of LSU. Also, their O-Line is still going to be sucky.

Notes:
* Game played at neutral site.
Comments:
- Six (possibly seven if WVU can win all non-conference games) bowl eligible teams this year.
- Only reason I picked Iowa State over KU is because the game is in Ames. (Sorry Beems)
- Top 5 of the conference separate themselves from bottom half more than last year.
- TCU could easily be anywhere from 1st to 6th in the conference. They have a tough schedule (conference and non-conference).
- Iowa State will struggle this year due to schedule.
- Texas will start strong and sustain enough momentum to win some games they probably shouldn't. Will finally get past KSU with a healthy squad in late September at home.
- Oklahoma State's schedule is heavily in their favor. If they drop one it will be Bedlam or @Iowa State in another Rhodes Miracle. They will play BU and KSU close but pull out the win.
- The conference will be fun to watch just like last year, but will lack a dominant team to play in the BCS Title.

My season would be awful for the conference's national perception. I'd enjoy the heck out of it though. The conference desperately needs to go 3-0 against the SEC in the first week. #TSC.

10. KU (0-9)
I don't think TCU is going to have a good year. They have the hardest schedule in the big 12 and they are going to already be beat up entering B12 play because of LSU. Also, their O-Line is still going to be sucky.
Their offensive line wasn't sucky. Other than us, they were the youngest line groups in the Big XII...and it didn't help that they had a freshman that was nowhere ready to compete last year. They have a tough schedule...but we all do. It's the Big XII!!

*TCU has a very tough schedule on the road against 2 BCS teams (Cowboys Stadium vs. LSU and @TT) in 1st 3 weeks then 8 games in 8 weeks including (@OU, @OSU, UT, @KSU). Can they survive the injury bug?
*KSU, OSU, UT, BU and OU have multiple bye weeks before conference games, will be interesting to see who takes advantage and heals up
NON CON games of interest (hopefully we win all of them):
KU- @Rice
OU- @ND
OSU- Miss St (Reliant Stadium? WTF?)
TCU- LSU

*Stud Coach Gary Patterson wins conf and only has one close loss in Stillwater. Still goes to elite bowl.
*Cats compete for title and have a great rebuilding season en-route to championship 14' and 15' campaigns, also TCU game in BSFS is epic and an instant classic, Patterson misses his alma mater and contemplates a later return to coaching in Titletown...
*Okie lite competes for title until another embarrassing loss in Ames, (Ghosts from 11' haunt Gundy)
*Swag-good has a rocky first year but shows a lot of potential as a future conf contender, Raider fan-base loves him
P.S.-I don't give a crap what anybody says, we will rough ridin' murder Baylor in BSFS this year for taking our nat'l championship.... :chainsaw:

There are a few things that are certain about next year:
KState will win the conference
KU will not win a conf game
TCU UT and OU will all be overrated
Everything else is minutia
-
timhawk, FSD, Frankenklein: stop what you're doing here. take your stupid bullshit somewhere else. this thread is for conference standings predictos.
-
Tim stop ruining this thread. Just cause someone's prediction doesn't match up with yours doesn't mean you should stroll in here all butthurt. What's your prediction?

Tim stop ruining this thread. Just cause someone's prediction doesn't match up with yours doesn't mean you should stroll in here all butthurt. What's your prediction?
1. KU
2-10. everyone else
i wanna hear your team by team analysis Tim
KU goes 9-0
OSU goes 7-2
TCU 7-2
OU 6-3
UT 6-3
TT 5-4
ISU 5-4
WVU 4-5
BU 3-6
KSU 0-9
HUR HUR HUR
anything is possible
Baylor not winning 4 games might be your worst prediction
-
That's actually not.
-
A pretty captivating point-counterpoint going on in this thread. Although let's try to keep it strictly conference standing predictos with the 45 game breakdowns.
Thanks everyone!

I don't know about anyone else, but i'm somewhat torn between TTech and WVU in my prediction. Both teams are losing starting QBs from last year and both return defensive units that weren't very good. I don't think very much of Holgerson, and as much of a mancrush that i have on Swagwood, i think it will take some time for him to develop as a head coach. I know that WVU got the QB transfer from Florida State, but it will take much more to replace the likes of Tavon Austin and Stedmon Bailey.
-
1. OSU 7-2 (@Tech and @ Texas)
2. Baylor 7-2 (@OSU and @TCU)
3. TCU 7-2(@OSU and @ISU)
4. Texas 6-3 (OU, @TCU, @Baylor)
5. Kansas State 5-4 (@texas, @ osu, Baylor, TCU)
6. OU 5-4 (TCU, @Baylor, @Kansas State, @ OSU
The Rest
West Virginia - 2-7 (wins over Tech and ISU)
Iowa State 2-7 (wins over kansas and tcu)
Kansas 2-7 (wins over Tech and West Virginia)
Texas Tech 2-7 (wins over OSU and ISU)
Upset Specials - Tech gets one over OSU and ISU beats TCU. Upsets happen so tried hard to include them.
Really wanted to give more love to the Cats but I always like to have lower expectations, and then get pleasantly surprised. Never disappointed with lowered expectations.
The hawks won't get 0 wins, they won't get 1 win, they'll get 2 wins!!! Somebody better lock up the sheep because those hayseeds will be looking to party.
*really miss the old big 12. filling this out made me sad.
-
Alright, fellas. Here goes nothing.
First let's just start off with a quick overview of what the Big 12 has to offer.
Contenders:
OSU: returning 2 QB's with significant experience in what has really proved to be a plug and play offensive system. returns 7 starters on D. deserving of getting the nod as the #1 team in the media poll.
OU: replacing jones after his 13th year of eligibility expired. belldozer time, can he throw? can he handle snaps inside the 5 yd. line? :gocho:. i feel bell will go through some growing pains throughout his first year as a starter, but by the end of the year he will be fine. what about the defense? got totally gashed at the end of the season.
TCU: dominant defense that returns 9 starters. pachall being back is huge. led them to an 11-2 record in 2011. he's the wildcard. him coming back is the difference from an 10-11 win team or a 7 win team.
BU: offense shouldn't miss much of a beat. defense should be improved. but even if it is improved it will still be among the worst in the big 12.
KSU: we all really know what the deal is here. #life or waters? i say waters. accurate QB, winner. defense has holes all over it, but does return experience at some key positions. the secondary should be alright.
UT: most experienced QB. talented on defense. most talented team in the big 12? probably? will they find a way to blow it? who knows. another 8-4 team probably leads to mack "retiring".
The rest:
KU: JUCO city. Heaps will be better than Chryst. but that isn't much of an endorsement. competitive in a few games last year, wouldn't rule out a conference win for them. if not, weis gone? OregonHawk?
ISU: rhodes always seems to go bowling and upset a top 25 team or two. this year he'll have his work cut out for him. Probably has the worst QB in the conference, where they had the second worst offense last year. will miss their 2 stud LB's.
TTU: dreamboat coach. will always be dangerous because of that O. defense will struggle. it'll be interesting to see how KK does in his first year as HC.
WVU: who will be QB? who will replace bailey and austin? expect their offense to do more work on the ground. defense should be better, but will still be one of the worst in the conference. deforest getting off the headset as DC shouldn't hurt.
ALRIGHT so there's the brief rundown. Now the projections.
1. OSU 8-1 (@UT)
2. KSU 7-2 (@OSU, vs. OU)
T3: BU 6-3 (@ KSU, @TCU, vs. OSU)
T3: UT 6-3 (vs. KSU, @TCU, @ BU)
T3: OU 6-3 (UT, @BU, @OSU)
6. TCU 5-4 (@TTU, @OSU, @OU, @KSU)
7. TTU 3-6 (losses: @WVU, @OU, OSU, KSU, BU, @UT)
8. WVU 3-6 (wins: TTU, ISU)
9. ISU 1-9 (beat KU)
10. KU 1-9 (beat WVU)
Notes:
-TCU is kind of my wildcard. I see them losing to LSU which kind of starts a downward spiral in week 1. Will be a tough team to beat in the heart of conference play. Physical team.
-OSU is replacing 2 coordinators. Not easy, but I think the talent is there to win the conference.
-KSU losing to OU ends our chance of winning the big 12.
-Related: I feel like we have about a 50-50 chance against UT and about 35% against OSU. (we are coming off a bye.)
Let me hear it on how bad my predictos are...
EDIT: I made this predicitions based on Waters being the starting QB. However, I also accounted in that we would use Sams in certain situations. (ie. goal line, short yardage, taking drives if Waters were to be ineffective, etc.)
-
-KSU losing to OU ends our chance of winning the big 12.
Seems to me our shot at the DP ends when OSU wins Bedlam.
Other than that, terrific analysis. I think you might be the only one who thinks Waters is going to be the guy.
-
I'm probably not going to make any predictions, but the fact that we might repeat makes me really, really happy.
