I always start by first deciding beer or liquor, then go from there.  Any idea what you're feeling?

Usually I drink beer, but tonight I'm thinking about having a few liquor drinks before I switch over to beer, I already have some vodka and rum maybe I'll just do some juice or diet with one of those

No fake patty's for this old man but I am going to do some HEAVY day drinking tomorrow. Will probably knock out a 6 pack of Ranger IPA with the Brooooooo's during the KSU game then head down to westport or bslider to keep the binge rolling before the KU game.

What kind of rum?  Can I talk you into just foregoing the mixer?  I started doing that about six months ago and it has made drinking much more enjoyable, educational, and explorational.

Honest question, can you taste a difference between Jack and Kentucky Deluxe when you mix it with that much ice and Coke?

Honest answer, my proportion may be off.  I don't measure anything. it might be more like 2:3.  Who knows.   also, I have never had the other kentucky stuff, is it ok?  I really don't have a fantastic whiskey/bourbon palate.  I only really drink Makers or Jack when it comes to that. 

Educate me.  What should I try?

I just threw out Kentucky Deluxe because it was the cheapest one I could think of. I don't understand spending that much more money on liquor if you're going to mix it with that much Coke. Seems like you wouldn't be able to taste the difference. If you drank it on the rocks on mixed with water, I'd understand the difference.

Great example, I heard a lady order a Grey Goose and Red Bull the other day. Why in the world would you pay that much more for vodka when there is absolutely no way you can taste the difference?

Gotcha.  I will say that I can definitely taste the Jack quite a bit over the coke to the point where the coke is pretty much just making it sweet.

I have to try the on the rocks I guess.   Would save a bunch of calories that way.

Rider Vodka has either just hit stores or is about to. It is very good. Unlike good vodkas that just have less and less alcoholic taste, this one actually has a flavor. It's a full body smooth sweet taste. And it's only about $15 for a 750ml.

Cns, instead of going straight to on the rocks (which you won't like right now), just start making your drinks stronger each time until you get to where you just have a splash of soda.  When you get to that point you'll be able to taste the difference in bourbons and enjoy them more
