Title: California manhunt
Post by: bigwillie20 on February 07, 2013, 04:21:28 PM
Gotta love the way they are handling this one.  Opening fire on every vehicle that looks remotely similar to the 1 they are looking for.  USA! USA!

Apparently now, the LAPD has been shooting at random trucks that come close to their officers.  They shot 2 innocent people in one case and shot at another innocent person in a seperate incident.

Seems pretty clear there are issues with the LAPD when they starting shooting civilians out of fear to protect their own.

I'm stunned that major media outlets aren't covering this more.  With all the other stupid crap they cover 24/7, you'd think something this big would warrant nonstop coverage.  I don't want to get too Birther Pit here, but I'm willing to bet that this story isn't being crammed down our throats because the media can't make it about gun control or race and they don't dare to negatively talk about a major police department.

I don't think they can make it about a political issue to debate when there are no developments on it.  Its an interesting story, but once they released who it was, there really haven't been major developments short of cops blasting civilians.

Fugitive alleged LAPD-killer is first drone target on U.S. soil

http://now.msn.com/christopher-dorner-is-first-drone-target-on-us-soil

It's official: The drone war has come home to America. Wanted fugitive Christopher Dorner, the homicidal former cop currently at war with the LAPD, has become the first known human target for airborne drones on U.S. soil. Their use was confirmed by Customs and Border Patrol spokesman Ralph DeSio, who revealed the government's fear that Dorner will make a dash for the Mexican border. The fugitive has already killed three people, according to police, and has a $1 million bounty on his head. Dorner, who has military training, is believed to be hiding in the wilderness of California's San Bernardino Mountains, where locating him without air support may be all but impossible

A regular guy, all by himself, takes on an entire police force for a week. This is wrapping up nicely just in time for the SotU, and the gun control topic it will cover.

The LAPD was wrong for shooting at that truck, but damn...

From his manifesto:

Quote
Outside agencies and individual officers on patrol. If you recognize my vehicle, and confirm it is my vehicle thru a dmv/want warrant check. It behoves you to respond to dispatch that your query was for information purposes only. If you proceed with a traffic stop or attempt to notify other officers of my location or for backup you will not live to see the medal of valor you were hoping to receive for your actions. Think before you attempt to intervene. You will not survive. Your family will receive that medal of valor posthumously. It will gather dust on the fireplace mantel for years. Then one day, it will go in a shoe box with other memories. Your mother will lose a son or daughter. Your significant other will be left alone, but they will find someone else to fill your void in the future and make them just as happy. Your children, if you have them, will call someone else mommy or daddy. Don’t be selfish. Your vest is only a level II or IIIA, think about it.

This is pretty true. One time I got drunk and left the oven on all night. It was a couple hundred degrees in there and when I opened it up in the morning I found some burnt french fries.

French fries are definitely more random than a drivers license. Almost everyone has those.

Even if they did light the place on fire, I think that's completely understandable, given the circumstances.

Uh this isn't China. The guy was a deplorable crap stain but he is still allowed due process. They also had the capability to wait him out. You mean to tell me that the crap kicking hillbillies in Alabama had the capability to better handle a situation when a fugitive is surrounded better than multiple LEO agencies in the nation's richest and most populous state?

Since when does the government have the rough ridin' right to destroy someone's home?

since always

Oh well carry on then (but I still think it's bullshit).

Did you guys talk about how they said that the fire wasn't deliberately set but they have audio of someone authorizing to "go forward with the plan with the burn?"

http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=fbc_1360721946

1 minute in on the first video. 1:30 in "burners deployed and we have fire"

burners are a slang term that law enforcement uses for the tear gas canisters used.

How many times did the hillbillies in Alabama let the guy get away and open fire on innocent civilians just because they were driving a blue truck? Obviously they are more capable than the LAPD.

If the police were to ever actually burn a place down, they should pay for the damages, obviously.

What about photographs and memories lost?  I'd have to think that kind of pain and suffering is measured in the millions, amirite?

Also glad they didn't shoot him, because of the huge additional cost to society.

Yes so that one post 7 pages into an 8 page thread that garnered two responses wraps up all that is strange, sad, and corrupt with this story. MODS, LOCK IT UP!

[Skipped about 4 pages of this thread]

I don't get the expectation to "wait him out."  He was known as armed and for having a vendetta against police officers.  I don't expect the police force to continually risk their lives for one of someone who is trying to kill them.

Even if you believe Dorner was the victim of a corrupt department, instead of killing people responsible, he killed the innocent children of a person responsible.  When you run the tally of his revenge, he seems to have killed only innocent people and not anybody responsible for his firing.

I guess the police were certain he was in there by himself?

I would certainly hope so. If they burned that place down and killed somebody other than Dorner, those responsible should fry.

If they find anyone else, the official story will be that Dorner took them hostage and executed them before the fire started

as stated above, james' picture was reversed, so you have to take that into account when doing biometric readings.
