The sad thing is: I don't think last night did it.  oscar is back!

I agree with this.
I hope the Cats don't make the NCAA's and I hope that Currie is forced to make a decision because if they make the NCAA's I have no doubt Oscar will be back.

oscar is about to reel off at least 2 out of 3 to get people back on board.  Then it's the NIT and oscar led veteran squad in 17-18.

yup

Agreed.  I keep hearing everyone referring to making it to the NCAA tournament as a litmus for Weber keeping his job.  Was this part of Weber's contract?  Clearly Weber has not progressed the program.  In fact some would argue the program has regressed.

I don't think Currie fears firing Weber if necessary.  But right now this looks worse for Currie if he does fire Weber after 5 years, after how Martin left.  Even as much as I want to see K-State progress, I can also see the need to consider the fiscal side.  Right now even if fans boycott next season buy not buying tickets, it would probably be still cheaper to allow that than pay out the remainder of the contract.  This reminds me exactly what happened with Travis Ford in Stillwater last year.

We have an AD who our fans praise as being a great fundraiser. Scrounging up $2 million shouldn't be hard. Also, Travis Ford's buyout was twice as much as Weber's.

Anyone with any business acumen at all, I'm talking like lemonade stand level thinking, knows Weber's relatively small buyout isn't a deterrent to firing him. Last year we reported a men's basketball revenue of $9.3 million. Having a coach the fans have given up on will result in a sharp drop in ticket sales, apparel, concessions, and of course donations. Having something to believe in will result in an increase.

Pretty basic stuff.

Does that outweigh admitting that you made a mistake?  I'm having a hard time believing it will.

I'm not convinced he'll be retained no matter the outcome this season. Too many are done with him and sadly the program. Big money have to have spoken to ADJC by now. I watched long enough to see that OSU was making a comeback. We all know how that usually turns out so I quit watching.

:dunno: IMO he has more to lose by keeping Weber but I have no idea what that guy is thinking

weber leaving doesn't have to be chalked up as a mistake on currie's part and currie has so much in his Done Good column that a oscar weber hire that didn't work out wouldn't carry all that much weight in the equation of his ability to be a successful AD imo

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

I don't disagree but I don't know that we've reached a tipping point to make that change.  A lot of the same people that bought tickets this year will buy tickets next.  Maybe even more if we add another couple wins in the NIT.  Weber has the white kid from Kansas that plays "the right way."  That sells a lot of tickets and buys a lot of patience.

I think Currie is stubborn enough that he won't make a change this season no matter what. That's why I'd like to see just how big of a hole he can get himself into (by the Cat's continuing their spiral, missing the NCAA's, etc)

oscar was caught on camera muttering "eff me" during yet another blown home game. He feels the pressure and I'd say that there have been talks with him by the bossman on his job performance.
