Meanwhile KSU uses daily commercial direct flights out of MHK to DFW and ORD.
Sad that Lawrence's 19th century infrastructure and mediocrity-at-all-costs attitude has cost the honest, hardworking taxpayers of this great state.

I think the plane that was retired was associated with a due diligence scandal where KU forked over $6 million for the aircraft, and neglected to check for a lien against the aircraft. The creditors seized the $6 million and the plane, and sold it again to KU for some undiclosed sum.
-
So poor
-
Lets focus on real issues like court storming
-
Who has to get paid when they want to fly their own plane, and why don't they hire those people?

Not quite that bad, but still LOL. How many untold millions have mediocrity-at-any-cost KU hilltoppers frittered away at taxpayer expense?

Relieved I am no longer a tax payer in the state of Kansas. Would hate to feel like I had been raped by BGL.

I wonder if Charlie Weis still has some punches left on his free charter flight ticket he can redeem for a Bon Jovi concert? Never ending 3 ring circus over in Lawrence and big tent held up by stakes driven through the heart of the Kansas tax payer.
Mediocrity at any cost.
-
I wonder if ku athletics ever paid the huge bills that they owed to various other departments on campus a few years back, as I recall they owed parking services and transportation services amongst others, a lot of cash, and weren't paying. They probably figured out a way to funnel taxpayer money into paying.
Sad
Mangino tickets still unpaid?

Wow, great job ku. You killed young teachers dreams
-
We have cuts everywhere across the state, a piano being cited by Brownback as wasteful spending by an arts school and meanwhile KU is literally burning through millions of taxpayer dollars with private jet flights for Charlie and Burrito Bill.
-
#RockChalkAnotherScandalHawk
-
Kstate cuts all public funding to AD. KU puts tax payers on hook for Lew perkins to pick up his new puppy. Sad.
-
"Best Bon Jovi Show I've ever seen while on a 'recruiting' trip, thanks Kansas taxpayers" . . . Charlie Weis
Never take a shortcut to lazy incompetence that isn't billable to the Kansas taxpayer.
KU- Where mediocrity spares no expense.
-
Sounds like Lawrence is the rural area if it takes as long as they claim to get to a commercial airport
-
why cant they use the millions(billions?) in their endowment? maybe they are saving that up for football improvements :dunno:
-
That university continues to hold this Great State back. I was surprised at how few other schools own their own jets.
I am really impressed that the Lawrence Journal World has the balls to put this out there.
-
LJW is a great paper for a small town like Lawrence.
-
How soon until the state legislature and eventually Pat Roberts dive into an investigation? This has to call the non-profit status of KU athletics into question. Also, that reporter is very respected. Was forced to decide with another newsroom vet which one would be downsized by the KC Star so former Star publisher and KU alum could continue to cash big checks and support the dangerous lifestyle of his wife.
-
They should have the hayseed locals pay to see the plane. Could help cut down on the expense

The local hayseeds are already paying for it (along with every other Kansan). Why bother?
-
meanwhile, multiple rapes and shootings every day in the streets of lawrence. but the upper crust just flies over the squalor on their private jets.
-
It's crazy that the second ku makes a high profile hire that person instantly starts screwing ku. They must come across as major dimwits
-
LCPAIQ here. Getting my taxes together and was wondering if I can itemize or declare any of these travel costs due to my BBS'en business?
-
you guys obviously haven't ridden in a citationjet before then. smoothest ride you'll ever feel. makes taking off and landing in an embraer erj (or whatever american eagle uses now) feel like the timberwolf at worlds of fun.
I am not sure self or any of the other high ups at lil bro U could handle this sort of peasantry.

I want to feel takeoff and landing, those are my fave parts of the flight
-
I am still mentally a small child who quietly makes WHOOOOOSH noises as the plane takes off while on corporate travel
-

They could put up a couple of private crop-dusters that are parked out there too.
-
I don't know what's more absurd, the fact that they think these are legitimate state expenses, or the fact that they found someone in Topeka to rubber stamp them.
This needs to be stopped and the treasury reimbursed
-
all jayhawks are equal, but some jayhawks are more equal than others
-
ku boycotts fake pattys day, we boycott paying taxes
-
ku boycotts fake pattys day, we boycott paying taxes
Are they really boycotting FPD?

their still really butthurt so I wouldn't be surprised if they did, then again they look forward to partying in MHK all year so idk
-
they would never boycott their favorite party of the year
-
Gotta love the President trolling KU on Twitter...
I do enjoy travelling from @FlyMHK on @AmericanAir - very convenient and cost effective!

If the plane is so cost effective and yields such a high ROI then their university should have no trouble paying for it.

Currie's first line in his letter. :stud:
I am writing this letter on the (slightly delayed) AA 11:30 a.m. non-stop jet flight from MHK to DFW that will enable me to head over to American Airlines Center for our 6 p.m. first-round Big 12 Women's Basketball Championship game against the Jayhawks.
